      It really is! And it even includes one of my biggest writing pet peeves, which is using the phrase “he or she” instead of simply saying “they”.

      I’ll give a pass on this to writing older than a couple of decades, because for many years English teachers were adamant that “they” is improper English and the unwieldy phrase “he or she” should be used instead.

      But this article wasn’t written decades ago, so there is no reason to use “he or she” when you can just use “they”. That, along with some of the other verbiage in the piece, is making my “this author is secretly a bigot” alarm go off.
