Guess I can’t complain too much bc I’ve been able to beat all content so far.
But I feel like whoever designed the banners was like, ok they have a nice foundation of 5 stars with great support and synergy, time to hammer them with dps, make dps blot out the sky.
I started during Blade banner and now have Blade and Kafka, and if I get the next guy I’m going to have yet a third dps than doesn’t synergize with my other dps and has to be supported by a janky ass 4 star team.
I feel like I’m going to be looking at guides for new 5 stars 10 banners from now and still reading how their best possible team consists of Luchua, Silver Wolf, and Bronya yet again.

If you’re playing free, then it’s important not to pull on every banner, your jade income will slow down as you play. At the moment your best option would be to save as many tickets to pull for Fu Xuan, as she is a tank. The featured four stars are great too. Pela is a very important debuffer, and Lynx will be the second four-star healer.
Also note that leveling each character is very resource intensive. If you pull for everyone, that means you’ll need to level everyone. After you unlock the final ascention you’ll realise how demanding these characters are. From level 70 to 80 is 2.7 million exp. From level 1 to 70 is 3 million.
Granted, most players don’t prioritize leveling up to 80 as their attention is better invested elsewhere, but everyone should get their one friend-support character and lightcone up to 80, traces to 6/8/8/8 and complete relic set at level 9.
This will make you very attractive to other players who will want to use you as a support character. Credits burn fast after 70, so each use of your support character granting 2,000 credits is very helpful in the long run. Another tip is to befriend low level players who don’t get suggestions beyond their ascention cap.
Good advice, yea I’ll slow down, I only pulled both those as figured even if they didn’t synergy it would give me a good starting point for my two teams for Forgotten Halls. Only pulling something new now if it goes well with them.
Not completely f2p, got the $5/mo thing but I am getting lowish on jade.
Both Blade and Kafka were good banners to pull on. Be sure to level up Sampo for Kafka’s team if you have him.
You should skip Imbibitor Lunae, you don’t need a third primary DPS. Fu Xuan is looking to be a very capable tank though. I’ll be pulling for her aggressively if she’s as good as I think she’ll be.
I’ve saved up my jades since getting Silver Wolf, I have enough to guarantee Fu Xuan and her signature lightcone, but then I’ll be completely broke.
It will take me a few months to guarantee my next pull w/ lightcone
Take your time, and set clearing Memory of Chaos 10 as a long term rather than short term goal. And don’t stress out about guides, after all the people writing them also have a stake in fanning the FOMO.
I just treat everything as a long term goal. 😂 Like, yay I finally got Bronya… but won’t be able to build her proper for a while. Blade took super priority, and now I’m trying to round out my existing supports before doing any others. My k my issue with MOC has been time. I never seem to have enough time to sit down and do a MOC level. I’ve lost progress repeatedly from being interrupted, etc.
Yea maybe I should be glad, enjoy a challenger and right now it’s pretty tough. Had I gotta all the prev special 5 star I might be too op and bored lol.
I am a day one player and had the opposite problem.
Main account pulled Bronya in the 50 warp thing, she’s a great unit but not necessarily a great first 5 star. I skipped Seele, I just don’t like her. And i pulled Jing Yuan. Finally, I had damage but Bronya didn’t make the cut for the team. I did pull Gepard, another support, and his light cone. I did pull for Luocha, but Jing Yuan is still my only built damage dealer. I have shifted team members and try to get the 4 stars working though. I pulled Clara and tried to setup a team 2 with her, March, and a few others but I stuck her on my Jing Yuan team and I ended up liking her there a lot better. Shifted Gepard to be on a team 2 and plan to pull Dan Heng who my Bronya will work better with.
Side account pulled Gepard, then Bailu, then Gepard’s Lightcone. Again, I’m stuck with strong supports and no damage to use them well. Got Yanqing and finally, a damage dealer. I’m less selective on the banners I pull on on this account so it also has Luocha. And I pulled Blade. Doing Yolo pulls on Kafka but its not likely to happen. It still doesn’t have many options for a strong team 2 except for Gepard. Why do I pull so much Gepard. And his light cone. I tried copium building Arlan to see if anything I could do to make him work and yea, that’s me trying to make a team 2. With blade on team 1 I can shift Sampo to team 2 but he’s better with Kafka so… :)
Fu xuan will be a good support char, maybe go for her instead of dan heng. But i agree, there were more dps than support chars on limited banner, but a lot 4* support are quite good as Pela, Tingyun, March ir Natasha
Oh yea, I’m running Kafka, Sampa, Natasha, and Asta. And then Blade, Den, Bailu, and Pela and have crushed all the halls of memory up to my level.
I just feel like a second class citizen when every guide is written like, oh well obviously you have this person, but if not then use (insert other 5 star I don’t have).
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only person who didn’t jump on this at release rofl. Still been having a blast tho.
Honestly that’s how most if not all the gacha game is like. They incentivise you to pull for all the limited else you will get FOMO.
However, you can also find guides that are F2P friendly that uses 4* that can definitely clear the content. So try not to let the FOMO get to you
Also, if we look at the predecessors(genshin) , those characters you mentioned will definitely get a rerun in the future so you can pull them later on…
I get you, though I started playing early, only missing Selee’s banner. I did some initial pulls on Jing’s banner to try to get a foundation of units and accidentally got him before pity. Other than that I have only pulled for Silver Wolf and Luocha, skipping the carries. There are plenty of 4 star carries and I’m very happy running units like Qingque and Sushang, you only need 1 or maybe 1.5 damage units, so having a roster full of them would feel bad. I’m going to wait for Fu Xuan next.
