Objectification is bad, but remember: physically attractive attention doesn’t have to be shallow. Someone’s physical shape reveals many things about how they carry themselves and what their lifestyle is. Some people like the physically fit shape simply because of how difficult it is to attain, even.

That said, the zeitgeist is awefully harsh to “ugly” people, though if you’re not a shallow POS, an “ugly” skilled person can be pretty damn hot, if you get what I mean.

It definitely would be nice for the zeitgeist to understand the above and appreciate more than shallow appearance for sure.

We see this historically in the west. When the working class were mostly agricultural labourers, pale white skin was prized. Once a large part of the working class became industrial/factory labourers and could stay pale, having “a tan” became the new beauty standard.

Likewise, before adequate nutrition was available, being thicker was considered attractive because it signified wealth/prosperity/being able to bear children (in cis womens’ case), then after industrialized food production made it quite cheap, it suddenly became about having the type of perfectly sculpted body only a personal trainer and/or cosmetic surgery could get you.

It’s increasingly considered attractive as it is increasingly the norm, too. Attraction, especially at the mass scale as opposed to the individual, is interesting in how it comes in waves.

20 years ago, almost no one would try to rock a beard, for instance.

You saying being in good physical shape or at least not overweight is increasingly the norm?

Have you ever seen any statistics about anything? 🤨

No I mean that in the past 20 years or so, a reframing around the “dad bod” and “thicc women” has occurred largely because larger bodies are increasingly the norm.

Also I should stop firing off one-line comments before bed, but that’s neither here nor there

I am so glad people are taking my spiel seriously. lol Far too often on Reddit I’d get a pile of, “you’re overthinking it incel” and get ratio’d in to oblivion for comments like that.

I’m not banging a goblin and it doesn’t matter how “skilled” they are.

The woman on the left is wearing a hooters uniform and waitress apron. I wouldn’t be surprised if her boss sent her out there and forced her to counter protest to keep her job.
