An investigation determined that the crash was “intentional” and charges are pending, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The vehicle went into a culvert behind the house before landing on the roof, according to Junction Fire Company. The investigation found speed to be a factor in the crash, according to Decatur Fire Company.

    Wow

Has any crash ever occurred in which speed was not a factor?

      - The vehicle was found to have no velocity and so speed was not a factor in his incident. The driver simply phased in from another parallel universe and intersected with a tree.

well ‘crash’ is kind of a generic term used for any incident involving a vehicle and they can be caused by other objects besides the vehicle in question, and parked cars may be involved in incidents

so an animal/person/tree/meteor could theoretically fall onto a parked vehicle, and in that sense ‘speed’ would not be a vehicle factor code

source: I work with state crash forms as part of my job and see all kinds of factor codes, not all ‘crashes’ necessarily involve a moving vehicle

some examples: Parked, Stopped in Traffic Lane, Explosion/Fire

Correct me if I’m wrong, but saying ‘speed was a factor’ is kindof a generic catch all for “they were going too fast”

like, you could be going ten under, checking the address number on your phone and still hit a stopped car. In that case, it was the distracted driving and not necessarily the speed.

Yeah mentions of speed typically mean ‘over a safe speed (depending on conditions), or over the legal speed limit’

The full report would likely list one or more secondary factors as well, such as collision with a fixed object or whatever actually helped launch this car into the air

Sounds like this person wanted to ram the house so they floored it, but flying into the 2nd story was not planned

I was wondering how a vehicle got all the way up there. I was assuming hundreds of balloons, but I suppose speed could work, too.

isn’t it fun to think that ANYONE could decide to do this at ANY TIME? Literally all that’s keeping you from being crushed is people constantly deciding specifically not to do so.

God i am so glad i decided to stop using cars unless strictly necessary.

Probably because they don’t have to spend as much time around idiots who decide to do this sort of thing.

But if other people are responsible for deciding to do this how does their decision on driving make any difference.

Is somebody drives into my house with their car I don’t see how my driving licence has any bearing

If you live in a city where it is possible to live without a car, a smaller percentage of the population drives, thus you don’t have to be around as many drivers per capita, so the chances of encountering someone like this are lower.

The point is that by staying off the roads i put as much distance as possible between me and cars, which makes it very unlikely for me to be hit by one.

Look up the statistics, cars are one of the leading causes of death in the US and certainly not a small cause worldwide.

Doesn’t not driving mean traveling just as nearby to cars, but without the protective metal box around you?

Or do you mean a specific incident where you considered crashing into the roof of a house but decided to stop driving before you did?

no? i just walk/bike/use public transit.

Keeps me much further from the cars (or inside a very big car) and it’s more enjoyable anyways.

Also wops i should have written “decided to stop being driven” as i have never driven a car myself lol, gonna edit that

Yeah, we have 2-3 meter wide shared sidewalks for bikes and cyclists, very cheap and easy way to guarantee that people can get by without a car.

                meter

That explains it. In places where they use feet, but the bike lane only gets like one, maybe two of them tops, and that’s assuming there’s a bike lane in the first place and that there’s any enforcement when a car just parks right in it.

I don’t know about everyone else, but attempting murder isn’t something I have to talk myself down from on a constant basis. Might want to see a therapist.

    @MicroWave

Crashing into the house may have been intentional, but hitting the second floor was not. 20 yr old dudes aren’t smart enough to be able to plan & complete that launch.
