Given that Trump only cares about himself, when he says crime is “out of control” we should understand that to mean his crimes are out of control.

When Trump says words, your interpretation should be “How do those words help Donald J. Trump?”

You know how his long time assistant characterized him as having empathy because he would tell her to “Go home and spend time with your family”? It’s a sure bet that it has nothing to do with empathy, and that he was trying to get her out of the office so she wouldn’t witness the criming he was going to do or the controversial visitor he wanted to host.

Just look at the people he surrounds himself with. It’s a supernova of crime.

It helps if you conflate police crackdowns on campus protests and state persecution of transgender residents as signs of “rising crime”. I’m sure by November we’ll get another “Migrant Caravan!!!” crisis on the border. That will signal yet another Crime Wave of black-market farm laborers looking to escape the narco-gangs shipping us more nose candy to arms dealers on the Texas border.

(editors note: remember kids, drug buying BAD but guns sales GOOD)

Not just a “Republicans” problem. NYC Mayor Eric Adams and Chicago ex-Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Houston Mayor John Whitmire are also in on the “Ahh! Crime Wave!” racket.

Sinclair Media and Clear Channel Communications have made a deluge of “minorities doing crimes” stories central to their homogenization of local media coverage. Cable news channels (FOX most notably, but CNN and MSNBC aren’t afraid to pile on) love the Missing White Girl saga. My hometown paper Houston Chronicle and local news channels love to talk about sex workers in the most lurid style and to cover human trafficking as an endless spectacle.

      Its everywhere. It’s suffocating.

Spoke with my mother over the weekend. Told her how my partner got purse-snatched last week. She talked about rising crime. I just stayed quiet and didn’t engage, let the topic change. She’s a Trump voter, but she doesn’t get it from him. She gets it from Fox News.

Why did you not engage her? It is this sort of silence that empowers her and other like her. I get it, this is your mother but at the same time you are allowed to voice the truth and push back a little. Not to the level of an all out ‘war’ of course, I get that, but some push back is allowed. If that doesn’t land well, there’s not a whole lot you can do but if I were you I would drop nuggets of info every single time, just to not let it pass and give the impression they are right. It needs to be uncomfortable to air these lies.

Engagement nearly led to the end of our relationship in 2020. I countered her shit statistic of cop-related deaths (something like less than 100 in a year) easily with a Google search. She said she would choose to believe the number she read. I just about told her we would never speak again after months of moments like that. Only by blocking all politics could we remain family.

I get it and I expected as much. I would not engage to heavy either tbh, I totally get your problem and dilemma. Just a simple, ‘that is not true’ or ‘you have been lied to’ and then move on. She gets to drop nuggets of indisputable nonsense, you get to drop yours. Anyway, good luck!
