I myself am a democrat: I agree with everything you’ve said. But the more nuanced point (which isn’t popular but I’ll keep saying it anyway because downvotes don’t mean jack shit) is that Lemmy moderation/voting is basically based on some tribal echo-chamber bs. If you make a meme that reaffirms what people agree with, even if its dark/cringey/unfunny/whatever it will be upvoted. If you say something that goes against the grain, it doesn’t really matter how funny it is. You can’t even lightly poke fun at most topics/peoples/news/whatever because people here can’t laugh at anything that they disagree with personally. And even if a number of people do find it funny, the mods will take it down (and no, I’m not talking about obviously bigoted/harmful posts, I’m talking about light funny jabs).
