As Texas Republicans face increasing scrutiny over racist statements just weeks before the 2026 midterm elections, they’re turning to an old strategy to try to maintain control over a US Senate seat: transphobia.
An ad paid for by Texas PAC – which is associated with the Senate Leadership Fund, run by Senate Republicans – translates Donald Trump’s infamous line about Kamala Harris into Spanish and applies it to state Rep. James Talarico, the Democratic candidate for Senate in the state.
“Hey, LatinX voters! We’re rounding up your friends and loved ones by the hundreds or thousands and sending them to countries that brutalize them. It’s pretty cool. Hey, did you know that some ladies have a penis?! Vote for me!”
