    I fully believe this started after Thatcherism, my own parents never bothered teaching me anything, everything I know I had to learn myself. I think the only reason Millennials are tech literate is because we grew up around computers during a very specific time where we were allowed to fuck around with them.

    The only complex skill either of my parents ever actively taught me (apart from my dad trying to teach me German which I torpedoed because I had zero interest and he had no idea how to engage me) was my mother typing

    10 PRINT "What is your name" : INPUT A$
20 PRINT "Your name is " : PRINT A$

    into the new family computer, and handing me the manual to Compaq BASIC 3.2. Everything else was self-taught.

    Remember when software came with a manual?
