Yeah, I have a graveyard of series left on bato and comick that just haven’t ever made it onto another site that I know of. I go in and check every now and then again, but lots were either simply abandoned by the scanlators or they moved to something like a private discord, which may as well not exist.

EXP is Golden

Interesting that I just mentioned this in the manga weekly thread as well. Based on the descriptions of the LN volumes, it seems like the manga basically just wrapped up LN1 and started LN2. I was initially expecting something like Overlord, but it is a bit different. There is much more of a focus on the main character actually planning and building up her strength systematically whereas Ainz basically starts OP and lets others devise most of his plans (or post-facto explain them). The climax of her first big fight with other players was pretty darn epic. This kind of story does run the risk of getting too bogged down in explaining all the things though. That is often what makes power fantasy isekai kind of suck once they start introducing too many stat screens/skills/mechanics.

Alright, it’s been a bit since I dropped into one of my own threads here to talk about some series. I managed to do quite a bit of catching up on series this past week. So, some quick thoughts:

• Boyish Girlfriend - Very cute still and delivering slow but steady progress (plus bonus potential side ship).
• Let Me Be Single in Peace! - I am really enjoying this one a lot still. This MC is weirdly compelling despite how extremely genre-aware he is.
• The Villainess Just Wants to Live in Peace! - I think this is the only manhwa I am reading right now, but it’s been keeping my attention. The Villainess is more interesting than a lot of others in this space and there is some good political intrigue.
• Out-of-Place Artifacts of the Otherworldly Labyrinth - Big fan of this one despite the release being all kinds of inconsistent. Very silly premise that knows it is silly.
• Slime Saint - Jelly is just as expressive as ever. Glad to be caught up to this one.
• EXP Is Golden - I can’t remember if I have talked about this one in the past, but I find it really compelling. This isn’t just a copy/paste of Overlord, it is doing some neat things. Looking forward to more.
• I Started Working a Housekeeping Job and Ended up Being Liked by the Family of the Most Beautiful Girl in School - Binged this series this past week and had fun with it. A very precocious younger brother character acts as a great wingman.

In a blink and you’ll miss it moment, they did a crazy foreshadow this episode that was anime-original. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this either. It really makes me wish the manga wasn’t on indefinite hiatus because the closer the anime gets to the manga, the less opportunity they will have to drop some awesome foreshadowing in.

Genau is basically what a stoic tsundere looks like. On the outside he stays cool as a cucumber, but he is aware enough to know that he has had to do some messed up shit and doesn’t want others to get their hands dirty like he has. He keeps saying how unaffected he is by his home village being destroyed, but he was certainly compassionate in dealing with his friend’s final moments, and cares a lot about their bodies being protected.

Alright, I just binged this series and caught up. Unsurprisingly, it delivers exactly what the title promises, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t still enjoy the ride. Something about a series like this or “The Ice Princess Wants to Be Melted by a Small Patch of Sunlight” that just works for me (it’s the younger siblings I think).

AFAIK, it’s just hitagi since gaen is a bot. More admins wouldn’t necessarily solve the issue that lemmynsfw faced since it had to do with billing on their infrastructure. I am an admin on a couple other instances, even with ssh access, but don’t have access to the billing side of things. That is a big jump up in trust I think that many are hesitant to make.

I feel for lemmyposter, it’s not a great situation to be in. I sit in a couple matrix channels with them and they have been fighting all the gremlins while trying to spin things up. I do think it is funny that fedinsfw has now shot up to be (I think) the second most populous piefed instance in the span of like two weeks.

I enabled this show with the bot, so it should post like normal as this show airs.

We get parent backstory this chapter. So, it seems like Miko inherited her abilities from her dad and that this spirit that has been tailing her actually started tailing her mom. Not sure yet how this amulet is going to play a role.

Well, there it is. Next stop is wedding and then parenthood. It’s a rare chapter that these two actually end up communicating their feelings.

I just caught up on a couple chapters. The snow this chapter hit a bit close to home as I feel like the past two weeks of my life have mainly consisted of clearing snow.

Man, this chapter reminded me that there is an anime in the works and I am really looking forward to it. These two are great.

I had been waiting for a new volume of Eminence in Shadow for so long that I wanted somebody else to join me in my suffering. The irony being that there is a new TEIS slated for April now (in Japanese though), so my suffering has an end in sight.

It was nice to get a whole episode devoted to one of the girls. I imagine they probably rearranged some manga chapters to consolidate this story a bit since there were three separate title cards during the episode. I wonder if we are likely to get whole episodes about the other girls coming up.

Yep! Looks like CITY is on Prime.

Apocalypse Hotel, the overall winner, is available on Crunchyroll (at least in the US, it can vary by market). Honestly, if you are in the US, most of these are going to be on Crunchyroll I think. CR are continuing their “take over all the things” arc within this niche. So, if you only subscribe to one service, it should be the one (unless you just sail the high seas). Other places you find some quality titles from time to time would be Netflix, HiDive, Amazon Prime, or Disney+.
