Games@lemmy.world•Final Fantasy X programmer doesn’t get why devs want to replicate low-poly PS1 era games. “We worked so hard to avoid warping, but now they say it’s charming” - AUTOMATON WESTEnglish
2·11 months agoWell said. I don’t think people genuinely understand the technical difficulties this problem posed and how it only produced negatives- it’s like having a serious movie scene and then the main character randomly has chihuahua legs because of perspective warping. When it happens during gameplay it can be confusing, too. There’s no charm at all and it’s not the fun kind of jank like with physics ragdolls.

politics @lemmy.world•Gen Z men voted for Trump to drain 'the swamp.' After Epstein, they feel duped.

2·1 year agoDoesn’t need to be by age tbh- you could have content tags and filter by content instead of age (I.e. No graphic violence). That would ignore country discrepancies and then give more flexibility

5·1 year agoThat’s because his work is thinking about how much money he could be making, not actually producing anything substantial. Those days are long gone
Probably would not add kpop to the list of chill. That industry is rife with abuse like slave contracts.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Americans overestimate the size of minority groups and underestimate the size of most majority groups
9·1 year agoAgree would be better to show the spread and highlight the median since they are more likely to be meaningful. Outliers have a huge impact here

Games@lemmy.world•Has Xbox Considered Laying One Person Off Instead Of ThousandsEnglish
32·1 year agoThat really sucks. Consoles these days are just pcs with expensive libraries. If you can muster playing on pc with your son, the games are cheaper and I highly recommend it. On steam, you can filter by local coop and hook up two controllers to get a similar experience. You can even try emulating older games like on the ps2.
The problem is you’re asking for cognizance from the population of “I’m not affected therefore it’s not a real problem”. This will not change until a blonde white girl they can rally to their cause is accidentally deported

13·1 year agoHonestly feels criminal with how bloated companies have made these phones yet they cheap out on a headphone jack.

16·1 year agoIf they didn’t buy a previous fairphone, you’re going to miss all the people who wanted to try it but didn’t want a 5 year old phone tech. I imagine most people replace around 3-5 years due to battery degradation, people dropping their phones, or lack of updates
All this thread tells me is how little memory people have. Late into Obama’s office, he brokered a deal that would have reduced Iran’s ability to create wmds in exchange for lifting sanctions while giving the rest of the world the ability to monitor them to make sure they actually stop trying to make a wmd. Trump infamously cancelled this deal early into his first run and now people are acting like he’s doing a good job by wanting to attack Iran- Trump created this problem in the first place!

Political Discussion and Commentary@lemmy.world•2024 Election, If Only Men Voted.English
4·1 year agoHaving seen this up close, these sorts of folks see themselves as law-abiding immigrants and other people coming in as people ruining their reputation. They don’t see that the system itself is flawed and terrible for everyone navigating it, rather they got theirs and everyone should be able to do the same. I’ve see the same sentiment among asians so it’s really sad. I wish Americans knew more about their immigration system. How many would think a lottery system is sane?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•My mom tells me I should cut dad off for cheating on her, am I a bad person for not wanting to do so?
73·1 year agoWhy are you suddenly deciding that being with his father is a bad choice? We literally know nothing about whether he’s a good dad- it is possible to be a good parent and provider and a bad husband. No matter what happens in his parents relationship, both will still be his parents and it’s the parents’ job to sort it out. What we do know here is that his mom is absolutely a red flag- you do NOT manipulate your children into taking sides in a divorce. The parents should be there to support their children and not the other way around.
