it’s true that in roguelikes you will probably die a lot in the beginning, the fun comes in improving and being able to win consistently. some games have an easy mode that’s just a power fantasy, but if you can win with little effort it gets stale quick. good roguelikes are about making the best build with what you are dealt by rng, once you learn the ropes you can experience tons of unique runs which is something not found in other genres.

roguelike is a popular genre now so there are probably some slop games, but there are still many good roguelikes with tons of content (I have like 900+ hours in risk of rain 2)

the study is setup so that the person taking the pill and the person giving it to the participant who is recording the results both don’t know whether the pill is a placebo, but some other person knows or it’s written somewhere else what the person got so in the end they can know if the result was from placebo. the important part is the researcher at the time of recording/interpreting doesn’t know, because if they know they may be bias in favor or against the placebo.

back when I did Olympic type fencing (epee) I found that being short was pretty bad (I’m 5 4). Going for the belly is not a good strategy in fencing since it’s a very deep target, if you just do that with no setup they can easily hit your arm/shoulder which is a much shallower target and their reach is comparatively longer than yours. also most people stand kind of sideways when fencing so it’s not that easy to hit the belly, maybe you just mean like the side of the torso?
