  • I used to have a 2016 XSR900, and while I wouldn’t recommend it for long distance riding I don’t see why it couldn’t be modded to make it more comfortable for that, since the Tracer 900/FJ-09 is built on the same platform. The XSR has the same mounting points for racks and stuff, just that you may have to cut away some plastic to get to them. I used to have the SW-Motech legend gear bags on mine, which wouldn’t really have huge capacity for a long trip but had a solid mounting system that could probably accommodate bigger luggage. I would also probably want some kind of windshield for long distance riding too. I just had a Dart flyscreen on mine.

  • I can agree with that. My 1975 CB750 feels about the same to my butt dyno as my wife’s 2018 Rebel 500, which is actually a 471 cc machine. The CB spins about as fast as the Rebel when highway cruising because it only has 5 gears vs the Rebel’s 6. They made a bazillion CBs too so I haven’t had problems finding parts either.

  • Someone before me put a lot of work into keeping it mechanically sound. It had an obviously-new front master cylinder and fuel petcock on it when I got it, and it runs great, so the engine has been taken care of. It just had those ancient tires and spanked brake pads and lines to deal with. I think that if I polished up the aluminum surfaces on the engine it would really look great.
