3·18 days agoI have beef with classic AIWB wedges - they print even when you dress like a cishet construction worker and do not have durable concealment. I much prefer deep carry.
I agree with prioritization of your EDC, this is by far the most likely gun to be used to save your life rather than one that you don’t have immediately available. It is also the most likely for the user to shoot themselves with as drawing and reholstering involve handling a loaded firearm, as such the holster and application of best practices are essential to reduce the risk of shooting yourself (far more likely than using your gun to defend yourself) as much as possible.
A possible solution to avoid the high price of an Enigma might be to use a [https://www.ebay.com/itm/385867147947](trigger guard holster) in conjunction with a belly band to protect the trigger.
Belly band holsters with rigid Kydex are also available, but they cost as much as the Enigma and don’t offer any of the benefits.
This would save $50-$100 but would complicate draw stroke and reholstering as the trigger guard holster would have to be applied before reholstering and a solution would have to be devised to make the band hold onto the holster every time when you draw.

4·18 days agoBelly band holsters and sticky holsters are super unsafe. You need something that positively prevents the trigger from being pulled while the gun is in the holster and while holstering. The PHLster Enigma is what you’re looking for, or a classic AIWB with a ridgid holster.
I’m a big fan of featureless ARs for California.
You can add a manual safety to your 320, it requires cutting a small slot in the grip frame and some minor tinkering. The 320 is designed to have an manual safety, some models just don’t have it. Lots of tutorials online. From what we know about the self discharge issue, it has to do with the components in the slide not the trigger itself, but the option is there.
If just you want to get rid of the gun, guns.com will buy if from you for not very much, or you can sell it on TacSwap or CAguns to someone else.
Harder to fix if it breaks and less accurate that an AR, other than that they’re conpetent guns. Pistol caliber carbines like the Ruger PC Carbine might also be worth a look as those cost half as much to shoot for blasting/plinking. The mini-14 would have more defensive utility however as rifle rounds are far more effective than pistol rounds.

Slop.@hexbear.net•Silly larper! Where's your le epic 1 bajillion attachment point rail system with hyper dynamic 6.7x-69x magnification. Why haven't you spent $12,000 for your first build?English
13·21 days agoMy comment is directed at mainstream gun culture at large and not necessarily at this specific instance. My frustraion is with people who’s only way to interact about firearms is to talk about upgrades and similar and constantly mention what somone “should have bought” or “should have done” or what they “need to buy”. Especially for people’s first guns, when they maybe can’t come up with the cash to fully outfit their firearm.
I recall there was a comrade who posted that they had bought a Hi-Point, paid for on an installment plan. Many people who had no experience shooting that specific gun or maybe even at all told them in a derisive manner to just get a Glock because it was better, in spite of the fact that Glocks start at between four and six times the price of a Hi-Point.

Guns are part of a system, not the end all be all of your effectiveness in a deadly force encounter.

9·21 days agoI guess that makes sense if you have $0.12 5.56, but even cheap optics are pretty good now and iron sights are far less performant across the board, especially for new shooters or people who don’t have time to train extensively. It’s a great skill for sure, just putting a counterpoint out there.

34·21 days agoThis new gun culture we have now is not even gun culture anymore, it’s just worship of guns as conspicuous consumption objects. Every weapon post is full of disgusting reddit brain comments about how they didn’t spend enough unless it’s some $10,000 safe queen.
Also apparently the AR15 is a fudd gun now, lmao

5·1 month agoThanks! I love this primer for new shooters. I do have a question, what evidence is there that Glock clones are “often more reliable” than the originals? I have not done any research because name brand Glocks fit my use case and because of Glock’s record in the competition scene and in adoption by MIL/LEO, but I would appreciate any input you have! I would love to be able to recommend them.
