politics @lemmy.world•Trump says he doesn't 'give a damn' about gas prices as US making 'fortune'
2·3 days agoAs a far more casual observer, round 1 the cartoon business villain from “the apprentice” promised to use his signature catchphrase on the crooked politicians everyone was already so sick of and round 2 has been a victory lap where perhaps the most crooked ‘politician’ of all time revels in the hypocrisy of gleefully marketing us to the highest bidder, with the full support of his only constituents that actually matter (the corpo scum buying). Remember that supreme court thing where they said corporations were people now? At this point I’m waiting for one where they just come out and say people aren’t anymore. Already kinda went and made speech meaningfully impossible without money

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Optimists of Lemmy, what gives you hope about the future?
1·3 days agoYou’re more than welcome to come pitch in. I feel like it has a lot to do with how someone’s currently handling their burdens. If you’re thriving now, fundamental change is a threat. If you’re struggling, there’s room to see it as salvation. I think it sounds lovely to be warm and have enough to eat, and am quite confident I could find another goal should those suddenly be achieved. Maybe it’s just the grass being greener as usual :p

2·3 days agoCan you see any difference between the “drain the swamp” stuff from round 1 and openly gloating about how profitable the little people’s struggles are?
You’ve gotta make them wonder

1·3 days agoI didn’t mean it as a callout or gotcha, just seemed relevant to the potential appeal of having them met by a machine. I certainly wouldn’t feel lost or directionless in that scenario, there’s so much I want to do but can’t now. Liberation from the chop wood/carry water processes that occupy more time than I’ve got would unlock so much potential

3·3 days agoInteresting, thanks for sharing. Would you say most of your material needs are met now? I’m somewhat behind on mine, and freedom from the constant struggle of not quite meeting them sounds (and is) too good to be true. I’m not against offloading that burden to a machine in principle or out of an attachment to want itself, I’m against it because that machine has been well-proven not to be acting in our best interests or capable of shouldering that burden even if its operators would ever allow it

2·3 days agoOk first off “post scarcity” is never going to happen, we are the resource their system extracts from and it will never give anything back. But if it did somehow, if we built a loving god? That’d be dope as hell. If you genuinely don’t have interests beyond your needs to pursue right now I hope you find some. There’s nothing hedonistic or degenerate (nazi buzzword btw) about passion and engagement. What gives your life meaning beyond meeting those needs as-is?

21·3 days agoNo one will engage with the ideas behind your output while they’re so clearly processed by that machine. Especially on that subject! The poster I mentioned was very kind, gentle, and did a better job reaching out than I think I can right now. You absolutely do not have to engage with a tool at that level to study it any more than medical researchers have to infect themselves to study smallpox. Citing the “response” of an llm as an example here is… A lot to unpack.
Paper is deeply inconvenient and limiting in many ways, kinda the polar opposite of an llm. It’s also 100% incontrovertibly your unassisted organic output. I wasn’t suggesting you switch back entirely, or even necessarily share whatever you write, just that it might be a healthy exercise and provide some useful contrast. I don’t mean to confront you whatsoever and hope things are going well.

0·4 days agoYou also shared an excerpt from your llm chatlog framed with details about what settings you used. I don’t know the kindest way to say it but think you’re lying to yourself about your level of engagement with that tool. “luciferofastra” in particular provided heartfelt, well articulated human feedback to that effect you ignored. My first encounter with your post was just now when you linked it here, there’s no “you people” lined up against you. The concepts you’re exploring show we’re all on roughly the same page. I’d recommend trying to put your thoughts down on paper sometime, just shifting context entirely. It’s a good exercise and I wish you all the best :)

1·4 days agoIt absolutely reads like it, a bunch of other people say so too, and the comments there are all you weaseling around what exactly the ai’s role in “writing” it was and kinda admitting it. Which is sad because there’s clearly an interesting idea behind all the slop obfuscation, and your first move was to whisper it through the infrastructure of your opposition before it was even formed

How do you say “truth social” in Portuguese?
