My use-case for browsers is just searching stuff, opening a website, reading stuff—the basics. Even on desktop the only extensions I use other than ad-blockers are Bitwarden, Sponsor Block and Return YT dislikes.

I tried literally everything (troubleshooting mode, uninstall all extensions, use the default state on a new profile, use the default state on a fresh install, use arkenfox user.js, etc) before installing brave origin. Even tried Librewolf. But seems like a Gecko issue for me. I was later told to diagnose what is slowing it down using the network tab but I had already switched by then and didn’t want to troubleshoot anymore when Brave Origin works flawlessly for me.
Also on Android I don’t need any plugins other than an ad-blocker which brave has built in. Only downside to Brave is that I have to turn off their Crypto bullshit. So yeah brave ticks all the boxes for me currently.
Agreed and upvoted but the browser is good. It works better than pretty much anything out there especially on android. Firefox for me is getting slower on desktop for some reason. Websites take a lot of time to load.
What’s wrong with brave?
Ooohh, don’t think corpos and banks won’t go for that hypothetical. A lot of apps already turn haywire if you have developer options enabled, accessibility options enabled, have a specific installed or using a custom ROM. If the optional attestation is enforced by your bank that they only accept passkeys from google’s password manager or apple passwords, then using something like Keepass or Bitwarden isn’t an option.
Look… I love passkeys. They are convenient and more secure. But if a service cares about on what device and software it was created then it is pointless and just an ecosystem lockdown mechanism.

World News@lemmy.world•‘Cockroach’ party leaders say India is ‘at war with its citizens’ as protests enter second dayEnglish
2·6 小时前No matter how much you protest here, the large unaware population will always elect a politician who is always in limelight for all the wrong reasons (rape, hate speeches, murder, ties with the underworld). And those politicians want to keep these folks poor and unaware as their numbers are huge and it is easy to sway their votes literally one night before an election by giving them 5k inr (~50 usd) cash or a chicken biryani and a beer feast.
It’s agnostic. You can pretty much put it on any cable as long it’s not too thick.

I use these on all my cables both ends. This cable is 5 years old and still strong. Costed me 1 rupee per piece. Got a pack of 100 for 100rs (~1 us dollar)

7·24 小时前You don’t know Indian small-mid businesses lol. They already pirate a lot of stuff. Adobe and Corel are very strict here—if they find out you are using an unlicensed version of their software, they send legal notices to pay a shit ton for the damages and buy the licensed one for a lock-in period before even suing. Most, if not all, give in because there is no way out of this. Yet a lot of them are willing to take this risk as the potential savings are much higher than the losses if caught.
If these businesses get a grey zone free product, they will happily switch. Big corpos will mostly not.

3·1 天前If it comes at parity and businesses start using it, then not only it would be banned but also the dev will be sued to hell for “infringing” their “patents” and “revenue loss” caused because of it.

Bitwarden’s front-end (Apps, Extensions) must be hard forked before it is too late.
Literally all websites are slower NGL. I wish that wasn’t happening but it is since the last few months and doesn’t seem to be getting better. I can’t use it in this state. I tried to find what’s wrong—using it in default state, disable and enable ipv6, enable and disable DoH, change my router DNS, change my Laptop DNS, Enable and Disable Extensions, Disable and Enable HW Acceleration, use various user.js (betterfox and arkenfox both), reinstalled Firefox with a fresh profile—but it’s still happening. I tried Librewolf as well and still the same issue. I can’t even submit an issue because there is nothing conclusive of what’s happening here. The only thing that is left is to reinstall the OS on both my systems. Switching to Brave Origin is much easier and fixes all the issues for me. So as much as I would like to use Firefox (because I love everything about it and want to support something other than chromium), it not usable for me especially when I have a relatively fast internet (250mbps) and strong and recent hardware.
I was using Firefox for 5 years and lately since few months, sites load terribly slower than on Brave Origin or Vanilla Chromium in Arch Linux for me atleast. A website that loads instantly on Brave takes like 5-10s on Firefox.
I tried reinstalling Firefox, tried a very fresh install w/o any extensions or my bookmarks but it still felt very slow on two different devices and networks as well. Tried disabling ipv6—which improved the loading speeds by about 1-2s. But then I pulled the plug and completely switched to Brave Origin. TBH I love it. It’s snappy AF. Has none of Vanilla Bravd BS and has an adblocker as strong UBO.

Sorry I was out for a vacation. Here you go.
Even though some things do load after 5s in brave as well, a website is instantly usable on Brave while Firefox takes the whole time to load it. The Firefox install above is a fresh one with just uBlock Origin. On Brave I have set it up to clear cache and browsing history on exit so nothing is being loaded from cache. No login used for the website tested in both browsers. On reddit as well usually, it takes Firefox around 12s to actually for it to be usable. While for Brave it is usually around 8s.
