Has there ever been an election so obvious? Even during Trump vs Clinton one could almost be forgiven for giving Trump the benefit of the doubt as a “political outsider”, but by 2024 we knew exactly who this fucking guy was… The fact that people today are acting surprised and outraged about all the stuff that’s been happening during Trump’s first 1.5 months is only further proof that Americans are perhaps the dumbest amnesiacs to infest the Earth.

Literally all we had to do was vote against Trump’s particular brand of fascism.

But Americans are the type of people who fail a single question true or false quiz because they forgot to write their name at the top of the page, and we deserve to suffer the consequences of our collective stupidity over and over until it is bred out of us, or until our society falls. The American people allowed this to happen–and not just Trump, but everything bad that has happened over the course of American history.

I understand that and I sympathize, but sadly all of our “investments” are the reason these billionaires exist. Nobody has ever become a billionaire by making and selling products, it’s always come down to going public and selling people on the illusion of infinite exponential growth. Even the investments that are considered conventionally “safe” (like index funds) are just another way to funnel money towards the biggest companies and the richest people.

I wish I had the answer, because obviously we all want to save for retirement, but the entire system feels like it’s broken in a way that is designed to enrich people like Musk and Bezos.

But seriously this is good news and I’m glad to have you all here. Lemmy is in a pretty good position right now in terms of having a critical mass of users and decent traction within popular communities. At the very least it feels self-sustaining here.

They deserve to lose so much more.

To be totally honest, this isn’t about stock market gamesmanship to me–I’m not trying to buy the dip over the next few days. (If anything I’m waiting for the AI bubble, which I personally believe is bigger than the .com bubble, to blow the fuck up.)

Between incompetent idiots and assholes running everything, ridiculously inflated stock prices, meme stocks and market manipulation, on-again-off-again trade war bullshit, and the AI bubble, I’m happy to have my money out of the market. I have zero faith in the people who are running our economy to do anything worth investing in, and I’ll be perfectly happy to find alternative means of investing over the next 2-4 years.

Frankly, I’m sick of putting almost my entire life savings in the hands of corporations and the delusional k-holed fucknuts like Musk who run them. It’s a bonus that I’m no longer the shameful owner of bullshit ETFs and company shares that serve only to enrich and empower the richest corporate oligarchs.

I’ve lived through multiple crashes already, maybe I’ll hop back into the stock market during the next one, or maybe not because fuck this whole system.

I sold all of my stocks a couple weeks back and I’m feeling pretty fucking good about that right now.

Yeah politics and work are trash, and money fucking sucks for everyone but the super rich. But there’s music to be listened to, pizza to eat, nuts to bust, weed to smoke, movies to watch, games to play, long nights with friends and family, making art and music, and just chilling in a big ball of blankets.
