Yeah, that stat is wildly suspect. I would expect in reality it is closer to 70% based on a number of other surveys & reports. And even that is an inflated number (a result of peer pressure and top-down enterprise pressure).

You can use Islands Architecture combined with Pjax-style page loading techniques so you specifically don’t deal with full-page HTML reloads, although the honest truth is now that we have cross-page View Transitions, combined with in-browser caching those “reloads” can actually appear to perform in a fast and pleasing manner even more than janky old-school SPA techniques.

Some dude just the other day was trying to claim there’s a “silent majority” of people who are cool with genAI being used in game development, and…well, sorry bro but the facts don’t back you up. (Unless you’re an old man apparently, the most favorable cohort lol. Even then it’s not a majority!)

If you click through to the ad on YouTube and read the comments, the bulk of them are a variation of “Hey Copilot, help me install Linux!” 😂

Unless you are offering a claim that the trend described by the June article has now changed, we are still in the trend . Imagine an article from June saying “Pineapple sales have been growing”. It would still be true now that “Pineapple sales have been growing” unless you can demonstrate new evidence that pipeapple sales stopped growing or began to recede.

The backlash has been growing stronger still in the last few months. Are you claiming that it stopped growing?

It’s kind of wild to me that the branding and rollout of genAI become so toxic that we are now having epic national fights and monologues by U.S. senators over…data centers. A decade ago, I feel like nobody ever talked about them outside of “inside baseball” tech/biz reports.

It’s also wild to me that even very recently, some jerks were pushing the propaganda that AI ackshully wasn’t all that big of an environmental impact. That sure was a smoke screen!

This is in fact an insidious form of gatekeeping. It is shutting out people who are excited to learn new skills and become the next generation of creative people by collaborating with other talented humans, receiving apprenticeship, and being rewarded for their labor. Their opportunities and newfound capabilities are being thwarted by the slop machines, and it stinks.

There is no gatekeeper like a Capitalist trying to convince you that Yet More Automation™ is good for everybody!
