World News@lemmy.world•Jailed Russian mathematician Azat Miftakhov solves problem from prison, publishes it in French journalEnglish
81·3 days agounfortunately, it always needs clarification
i also used to think /s is unnecessary and kinda ruins the joke, but after some time i realized one can’t expect everyone on the internet to live in the same context as they do, so sarcasm without /s will inevitably be missed

38·3 days agohe was tortured and his case was fabricated, so no, he’s not lucky
also he’s now serving his second sentence which is for “justification of terrorism”
they arrested him just as he was leaving the prison after the first one

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Anthropic’s Text Watermarking Proves AI Companies Do Not Care at All About Writing
11·4 days agoMaybe I’m missing something, but I don’t get this “oh they don’t care about the wording” thing. If you use AI you get what is generated by a neuronet that is not perfect in the first place. It’s not like someone deprives you of you personality, it is not your text anyway. If you want quality and vibrant text, you have to write it yourself. So I don’t see what’s the point in moaning over this “gray vs overcast” thing
I thought about it, but doesn’t it have it’s own disadvantages? Like higher chances of your letters end up in spam?

After reading this article I looked up what arbitration is in the US judiciary system and as a guy not from the USA I was quite surprised that a clause in a contract/agreement can basically strip you from your basic right to defend your rights in court. I wouldn’t want to criticize an institute of another country, but let’s say that was unexpected.
