Using Microsoft to discuss decentralization is…not very smart :-|
Our community will have to do better if we are to have any hopes of keeping XMR decentralized.

Given that a coordinated attack resulting in a deep reorganization is no longer just a theoretical possibility:
I firmly vote “Yea” on this proposal, but with the significant proviso that this should only be done if CLOUDFLARE can be kept out of it entirely and completely.
DNSSEC and the conventional DNS network are resilient without needing the support of any large monopolistic influence as an intermediary in the running of the Monero network.

Trying to get a Tari node going for merge mining is absolutely insufferable, though. If there were a public XTM node available for use with P2Pool, I sense that it would bring P2Pool a LOT more hashrate from the larger/for-profit pools.

OMG that sounds delicious 🤤
Wish I could try it without needing to travel like a bazillion kms
Someone went well out of their way to meticulously plan and then devote resources towards disrupting this for many days. I honestly can’t think of any better evidence in support of the necessity of having this community.
Is this true also for their “aggregated” pool? https://exch.cx/faq#aggregation
I’ve never used eXch for a swap to BTC, but it would be good to know for future reference.
Totally. Which is why I created this post to get some more opinions (and hopefully some experiences) from others. One way or the other, whatever information is revealed here will hopefully continue to be useful to others going forward.
The lack of a tor presence is quite telling, indeed. I hadn’t thought of that.
IIRC even LocalMonero had analytics deployed on their site. Or at least they did at one point.
I wholeheartedly agree with you that the creator and maintainer of P2Pool is a hero who deserves to be compensated for his brilliant and ongoing contributions. Perhaps it is best that P2Pool users be encouraged to contribute towards the development costs of the platform in this way. And those who want to get a bit more of the benefit of the XTM rewards can still use the 2 or 3 other XMR pools that are offering merge-mining rewards (though at the cost of their respective pool fee).
In the wake of Qubic’s recent 18-block reorganization attack it is imperative to look at all avenues to grow the overall hashpower of the XMR network. The more anyone who is not Qubic mines on other (smaller) pools, the more power we would be taking away from them, and anyone else who might be looking to exploit the network in the future by virtue of their organizational resources.
Let’s all get mining, y’all.
