Politics@beehaw.org•The DOJ ‘Forgot’ To Mention The Law Restricting Searches Of Journalists. The Judge Is Not Happy.
1·17 days agoI guess judges in Brazil really are that bad as a class to feel so surprised someone is claiming them to be just another regular worker, in the USA.

Technology@beehaw.org•Burger King will use AI to check if employees say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’
4·18 days agoThe secret is going beyond making logical sense to regular people. How does an executive can make it look like their job matters? By offering solutions to problems that don’t exist. They can just pay someone to manipulate numbers and have accomplishments on their résumé.

Politics@beehaw.org•US plans online portal to bypass content bans in Europe and elsewhere
5·22 days agoIs the only purpose of the project creating a gov site that foreign governments will have to potentially block? Alternatively, it’s just a silly idea that people with power and little knowledge are able to realize.
I think people around here could listen to the whole album if they chose to at FNAC.
I guess it’s a bakeless pizza.
I read this 20 years ago and, for the first time, it feels 20 years was not that long ago. Great manga. Atmosphere is really 70 percent of it, and the art. So many silent chapters. One thing that people might really appreciate is it’s really transhumanist, or post human. The themes might reflect our society, but they are not really us.
So, they know you are doing something wrong but don’t care, until they care? I believe the judges would rule against the corporations for allowing it repeatedly. They effectively forgive a debt every new purchase.

Technology@beehaw.org•(Meta) What about technology satire or funny pieces?
3·1 month agoIf not here, I don’t know where. If you don’t understand the technology is being overhyped, it’s just a silly joke that doesn’t reflect reality.
Well, if i had any interest in answering phones, I wouldn’t have dismantle them in the first place. Or, for younger folks, the risk of losing contact for installing a custom OS in your phone is not that big.

2·2 months agoI’m sorry to jump in out of nowhere, but this argument can be used against your top comment in this thread. Some people listen to single tracks, others to whole albums. Am I missing something? I thought you two were just comparing points of view, not trying to decide who was right.

iiiiiiitttttttttttt@programming.dev•have some connectivity issues? just open every UDP port.
30·3 months agoLower ports are reserved, so they don’t want to create more issues when users apply the lazy solution. If problems start days later, people will remember they followed some weird instructions, buy they will forget weeks later.
Do you think that’s universal or only applied to the USA? And how does the article support your opinion?

9·11 months agoPolice on high alert, woman appears with a gun and is not shot dead on sight. She actually goes back inside to get someone else without being shot again for moving. Not impossible, even credible if what she was carrying was not a gun.

World News@beehaw.org•UK creating ‘murder prediction’ tool to identify people most likely to kill
5·11 months agoPlease, don’t take this to a private conversation if it’s not a private matter. The topic you were discussing would benefit others and being open offers the chance for someone to jump in with a unique perspective.
Now, about the way you expressed your opinion on the assault received. I don’t have a degree in psychology, but I believe you shouldn’t so nonchalantly analyse someone’s behavior after just one interaction and you definitely shouldn’t treat it with levity (“to die on”). Also, personally, I think you should only advise people to seek help when it’s for their on benefit, not because you don’t approve their behavior. You might have had the best intentions, but the language you use is important.

2·11 months agoPelo que eu entendo, pedir devolução dessa forma é por causa de fraude, não de erro. Mandou errado, a pessoa tem que devolver, mas não envolve o banco.
You didn’t ask the same thing.
Thanks. I guess I’m just too isolated from mainstream communication.
I’ve learned people adapt really fast when you take away something they really want to have. In Brazil, WhatsApp blackouts were met with a rapid adoption of telegram. Meta knows for sure they can’t pressure the government through the population here.

I believe what you want is the part called “autenticidade”, which is a test to check that the votes inputted are the ones registered.
