I’ve lived in both Germany and the Netherlands, a year in each. I think you just see them with rose colored glasses. I have many criticisms but I’m not trying to tear anyone down. People love to tear the US down because we dominate the world in many ways.

We feed people with no strings attached. There are a million places where people who qualify can get help. But the guy who is working but he just had to replace his HVAC and has no money left, or maybe the lady whose transmission just went out and she has no money for food but doesn’t qualify for assistance - we help a lot of those people too. And we help people who would qualify for government aid, but we still don’t ask. We also serve community meals regularly and lots of people come from all income brackets. Most of the wealthier people who come are supporters.

Eh, I’ve lived there a couple of times. They don’t have everything figured out.

I’m for better paid leave. But do companies pay it or is there a national fund? Because as someone who runs a very small nonprofit organization that feeds our community with a handful of employees, if three of them went out on paid leave and I had to pay them plus temporary replacements long term, we would go under. There’s a reason we don’t have more employees. We paid two people on long term leave last year for good reason, and we lost 65% of our savings.

Playing survival but being willing to use console commands just a tiny bit to make it less painful, that’s the sweet spot for me. I give myself some coins. I’m the dragonborn, it isn’t a stretch to think I might have also started out life with a little money. I mean my parents clearly had a heroic bloodline, they should have been successful. And when I’m building homesteads I console command most of the supplies. It’s rich privilege. It’s real. But I can still freeze to death or starve like anyone else navigating Skyrim.

I’ve been to the doctor twice in the last 20 years and one of them was an emergency. It has been longer for the dentist.

They would have to seize new land, build new tunnels and bridges and essentially start from scratch to build functional rail, and if you want it to pass through major cities that gets extremely expensive. Flock relies on existing mass produced tech (they’re essentially a bulky cell phone with fewer features, a small solar panel and a pole. They already had the land, just needed govt permission to use the existing easements. And Flock is making money vs spending trillions with no ROI.

Many of the people I know are of the opinion that the climate is changing, unsure how much is just a natural cycle or caused by us. But one thing they feel confident in is that the people in power only want to use it to gain money and power, and that there will be no climate impact to giving them money and power. They also don’t want to live under strict rules when other nations are burning trash or sending it down their rivers into the ocean.

That just hasn’t been my experience, or my wife’s. I set her up with a laptop running Linux mint and she’s constantly complaining about needing to look up command scripts to type in the terminal to get things to work. I have been experimenting with different distros for fifteen years and it has been difficult enough that I’m still primarily a Windows user (my gaming and my job both have things I haven’t gotten to work otherwise).

I’ve seen these parking spots at every Walmart I’ve been to recently in multiple states (I go camping a lot and they’re very useful if I need any food or supplies or if I need to replace a piece of gear). It seems like corporate just made a decision to put them at every location. I have yet to see police park anywhere except the fire lane though, I once saw fifteen cop cars parked in front of my local Walmart in the fire lane, it was just they were all buying Christmas gifts to donate I found out later.

Well she lost the primary if you believe it. Another one of these massive vote dumps at the end, something about five USB drives and human error. No one has faith in Democrat elections anymore, the establishment always gets what they want.

It’s 99% shoplifting. But the police in my area don’t use those parking spots anyway, they always park in the fire lane.

The death penalty ends up being more expensive because of the increased legal costs primarily. I wish it weren’t the case, I’m an advocate when there’s no question of their guilt and they are someone that cannot be released into society. But I think we should just take them out back and shoot them right after the sentencing. Paying for years of appeals makes them hurt society yet again.

I only have one toilet in my life that has two lids. I think I mostly keep them both down but I don’t obsess about that stuff. Most of the toilets I use have the single 90% ring with the gap at the front and no top lid. So I can’t care very much.

Pardon me, I’ll be back later. I’m off to play a bit on my most recent survival playthrough of Skyrim… I love having to ride my horse places that don’t have carriage access which is 95% of them. You could do five playthrus using fast travel and you wouldn’t know the world a quarter as well as after one survival playthrough.

Yes our earning power is trash compared to the 70s, and I think there are more reasons for that than what you stated. But your answer didn’t really address why homes specifically have dramatically outpaced the general rate of inflation.
