There are tons of businesses near my work (next to a middle school and a high school) that have a posted no backpacks allowed rule on the door. Mostly because of shoplifting, and sometimes there is a pile of backpacks outside the door and a bunch of kids inside when school lets out. I’m genx, same both wife and I worked extra jobs during COVID, never worked from home. My boomer parents lived 100x better than me even during their "poor"years. Now retired, they still make quadruple what I do. I make less than I did 25 years ago, and that’s not even making adjustments for inflation. I also have no savings, can’t save when you can’t afford to live. This economy is fucked. We also lived through all of those market upheavals and also the one in the '90s. I buy some good bread and some shitty shelf-stable bread because I feed 6 and I’m lower middle class. Good bread is awesome but like $15 a loaf. They’re out here selling sliced half-loaves for $8. My wife and I both have two jobs so baking from scratch is not where I’m going to spend my time.

Voting for the lesser evil is why many people vote Republican. I understand most people here don’t understand it but very few Republicans really like their party. They just hate the Dem leaders way more. I’ve voted on both sides all my life, and 3rd party and I’ve had to hold my nose every single time.

Yeah this was my experience. People used the slur n***** knockin’ through all of my childhood 70s and early 80’s but as a young adult in the 90s it was doorbell ditching.

It’s an unpopular opinion with some here but I agree. When we can’t record reality as it happens and our governments can easily fake video, we lose a lot of our ability to know what is true.

Christians are a large group of people and at the same time a global minority. They can be at the same time a significant group and also looked down on by the majority.

Biblically there was 2000 years between Jesus and Abraham, and another 2000 years between Abraham and Adam. Two thousand years after Jesus’ crucifixion is coming up within a handful of years. That’s six Biblical “days”, and God rested on the 7th day. There’s more to the timing people look to based on old prophecy but a lot of things line up for the next maybe fifty years. I’m no expert, but a lot of Christians believe this.

The world has always been up for fucking with. It has literally never stopped. Europe has done more than almost anyone, China is up there though. Europe is just mad that they’re irrelevant.

Christianity has a large user base but is unpopular. Jesus is the living God and through him is the only way to the Father. He didn’t come just to forgive us and get us into heaven, but for the kingdom of God to break into every area of life here and now - health, peace, justice and more. We won’t see the fullness until his return but he already came out of the grave once and he said he is coming back. Biblical timelines say we should expect him relatively soon.
