Android@lemmy.world•OnePlus 15 review: The end of range anxietyEnglish
20·1 month ago“Parts of the phone reached a scorching 130° Fahrenheit, which is hot enough to burn your skin after about 30 seconds. During a few stress tests, the phone completely closed all apps and disabled functions like the LED flash to manage heat”.
I know this is during benchmarks and the average consumer would not get anywhere near this, but still… 130°F (54,44°C)?!? I think 113°F (45°C) is already a little too warm to be comfortable…
The “Force Peak Refresh Rate” setting in Developers Settings is the only setting i can think of, helps smoothing other things out a bit for me too. I don’t know if this actually increases the sensitivity, but i guess it’s worth a shot.
I have the e/OS version of the FP6, so i don’t know if the Google version has features added somewhere else.

6·1 month agoI started noticing your pictures and art a little while ago. You make some pretty cool stuff!
Lovely way to start a new day with!
For me using a VPN sometimes causes these kind of things. Otherwise, no idea

Photography@lemmy.ml•Found this little one walking around the forest
6·2 months agoHe froze when i approached. After a minute or so, he noticed that i would not come closer and was comfortable enough to look around curiously but it was still too afraid to move. That’s when i thought it was the perfect moment to take some shots. Would’ve loved to stay a little longer for some different shots, but i didn’t want to scare the little guy more than this.
I have a Nikon Z30 btw.
I noticed it a little while ago! I’m happy they fixed it. Will update my post.

Android@lemmy.world•Supreme Court deals Google a blow, forces major Play Store overhaulEnglish
6·3 months agoGoogle has to allow other app stores in Google Play Store in 2026, if Google likes it or not is not relevant.
And yes, the question remains if you can download from F-droid after installing through PlayStore, i agree with you there (because of the verification thing). It depents on what the court thinks ‘sideloading’ is, since we already know what Google think it means…

Android@lemmy.world•Supreme Court deals Google a blow, forces major Play Store overhaulEnglish
211·3 months agoWell, if i can download a F-droid app via Playstore… then i’m basically not “sideloading” anything. This could be interesting!
But the whole (paid) ‘verification’ thing still is troubling tho. And we know Google; they are good at breaking things one way or another.

Android@lemmy.world•If I wanted to donate a few dollars a month to the future development of a phone OS that will allow users to continue "sideloading". What is your recommendation, and why?English
10·3 months agoApp and OS developers need to go hand in hand here, i believe. So, also support app(store) developers, because without them, any good deGoogled OS / Linux will still be worthless.
I think the best way to invest for the long run is to start using any OS without any Google API on it (so, completely Google free, not even use spoofservices such as MicroG) and use alternatives for the stuff you use now. Then, when you find software you like, simply start donating / supporting them.

Android@lemmy.world•Looking for a 2025 recommendation for a phone with a headphone jackEnglish
3·3 months agoHonestly, i’m not sure. But it seems that (some) Sony phones supported that natively in the past, so it could be.
I would check some Sony related communities if i were you. If i see something regarding this, i will let you know!

Android@lemmy.world•Looking for a 2025 recommendation for a phone with a headphone jackEnglish
241·3 months agoI think Sony allows the bootloader to be unlocked, so i would go for the new Xperia 10 vii and just put a beefy case on it to be honest. Not only does it have the 3,5mm jack, but also SD card slot, no stupid punchhole/camera cutout, has a good battery, is a ‘normal’ size (6.1"). If i didn’t went with the Fairphone 6, i’d go for that one.
Those rugged phones are falling short in many ways, and most of them are pricey too. And Motorola isn’t what they used to be, sadly.

Android@lemmy.world•Those of you who install non-google-play apps (aka: sideloading), what's your gameplan for the upcoming Google restrictions on Sideloading?English
13·4 months agoFor now… Google is developing AOSP more and more behind closed doors, which is more troubling for other Android based OS’s. So even if e/OS is not (much) effected by this ‘sideloading’ thing, other choices Google makes will destroy something at some point.
If Google is going to build this “sideload protection” in the core of Android, this is going to be very bad, even for e/OS.
Fuck Google.
Thanks!
Sadly, more and more apps are starting to use the Google Integrity API. This API checks if you’re using a “safe” OS, so you probably can figure out yourself what this means… Super annoying. It is going to be: live with it, or go to alternatives.
My bank app still works, but recently there was some news they also are adding the API. If it stops working, i will either leave them, or just use another device or simply use the browser.
As for Android Auto, there is not much advice i can give. I have no need for it myself.
Is the software buggy? I did not like the Fairphone 5 mainly because of how buggy the Google Android version was… I had random reboots and freezes, framerate issues, UI elements that glitched or didn’t fit the screen properly. Hope they were able to fix that by now.
I too have the Gen 6, but i choose the e/OS version. Great phone so far.

Photography@lemmy.ml•[OC] some damselflys in my parents garden (Nikon Z30 - 24mm/1.7)
2·5 months agoI’m very happy with mine! This picture is taken with the Nikkor 24/1.7 lens, not the standard lens kit. I pretty much almost always use this one. Only when i want to make pictures of landscapes/big open ereas, or want to have the wide-lens effect, i grab the standard lens kit. The one that came with the Z30 (lens kit) was the 12-28mm F/3.5-5.6 PZ VR.
The camera, extra battery, lens kit and prime lens all fit perfectly in a tiny bag, which makes a perfect travel buddy!

2·5 months agoI looked it up and you’re right! I’ll change the title.

I’m not sure Android 8.1, or your Blackberry, has this feature, but i did this once by setting audio to ‘mono’ and let everything go through the left speaker (which is the top one, in my case at least). Try searching for ‘mono’ in your settings and see if it’s there.
Edit/note: i think this also applies to external audio devices, you might want to change it again when you use headphones etc.
