Music Production@sh.itjust.works•i want to release something with routenote anyone want to make something with me?English
2·1 year agoI’m down to collab/remix/whatever.
But I don’t really have any finished tracks. Mostly a lot of abandoned sound design sessions lol. If you have anything I could try to remix that would be cool.
My internal FM mostly plays music unless I’m thinking of something to say.
Y’know, you’re definitely right. But if Copilot were really useful it could have explained that.
That’s a good question but not one I can adequately answer. I’m currently mostly using a low-end setup so I’m just sandboxing my plugins as one.
Have you tried Bitwig?
Bitwig Studio! Made from former Ableton devs so it’s similar but the workflow is amazing for modulation and sound design. Plus Linux support. Not free but you can rent-to-own via splice (you do not need an active splice sounds sub).
Edit: oh and it can also sandbox your plugins (either individually, by company, or all together) so having a vst crash doesn’t bring down your whole project.

4·1 year agoI’m a big Bowie (and Nirvana) fan so that’s definitely near the top of the list. I’ll need to listen to some Explosions in the Sky.

2·1 year agoI know it too. I’ve been honing my sound for a few years now. It’s the doing thats tougher.
This year I’m trying to be more disciplined instead of getting lost in sound design or something and starting a new project. Need to dedicate sessions to different specific aspects of the process more often. Also need to decide if it’s worth seeing if I’m able to focus on a specific sonic style for a whole project or just accept that my diverse influences are going to inevitably lead to a somewhat disjointed work.
Edit: but I appreciate your words, sincerely, outside motivation goes a long way.

1·1 year agoAmazon (unfortunately), and yes, the cheapest possible. Almost all my gear is second-hand. This is an exception.

1·1 year agoDepends on how loosely you define “play”. In terms of where I’ve put the most time definitely synthesizers, samplers and the studio itself (DAW) if you count that. I can get by on keys I guess and I’m probably at the point where I could play bass in a punk band.
It’s a all relative really, if you play none and know nothing then I can play many, but if you’ve put decades into mastering your instrument then I’m just some amateur figuring it out as an adult in spare time that can’t really play anything.
But I can make you a cool synth patch or come up with a good fx chain. I put more energy into learning sound design and synthesis than a specific instrument. But now that I can do that and know how to mangle a sample to hell and back I’m looking to incorporate some more physical elements.

2·1 year agoNo, but it does tie in to my goals. It’s a gap in my arsenal that I have wanted fill for some time. But it is a lower tier priority instrument for me so good question. Probably on a the backburner in a few months?

2·1 year agoI practiced acoustic a couple years ago for maybe a month or two before deciding to pursue other music knowledge. I have been practicing bass a bit recently which in hindsight probably counts as an electric guitar.
But this is my first time holding and plugging in an actual 6 string.
Edit: but I’m basically starting from scratch when it comes to remembering or knowing how to play any chords, etc. Luckily I have learned some theory since then.

5·1 year agoShooting for an EP this year.

Sorry for the late reply.
It depends on the day. I really like synthesizers but I do like to bounce and resample whatever I’m doing over and over. And recently I like throwing the result in Amigo and or sometimes just a break, and modulate from there.
I should post more. Skip through this.
Bitwig as a DAW is itself a modular synth, so I can get lost in that pretty easily. Here’s a recent bounce.
Its all pretty directionless lol but it makes great material for chopping.
