The airline did not outline the fee schedule but said the new policy would start with May 28 bookings.
Not quite under the wire, but won’t be long now. I’m sure we can thank the “activist investor” for this move. Corporations prioritizing shareholders/profits over customers yet again.
Who elected Putin as POTUS? That’s clearly the influencer of that meeting.
Sadly, the majority of US voters whether knowingly or not.
Great to see US politicians, on both sides of the aisle, focusing on the most important priorities for their constituents.
/s, in case it isn’t obvious
“It’s a bad day for infectious diseases,” said Dr. Ofer Levy
I would argue it’s a great day for infectious diseases, but a bad day for humanity.
Though they’ll probably vote in another shitty mayor, the city has a laughably bad track record.
Easy to blame the voters and there is certainly culpability there, but when do we direct our attention to and fix the system that produces nothing but shit candidates to the voters?
It likely only gave some organizations pause. Those organizations had to decide if doing this was worth the risk of paying out (a small fraction of the cost) if they were caught.
When did they ever care about their constituents? If it ever appeared that way, perhaps it was only because their own interests and their constituents interests happened to align. Now they don’t.
I believe M-Disc to be the best consumer grade, optical solution out there. If you want to go commercial grade you are looking for LTO tapes, but your costs begin rising exponentially. If M-Disc claims are to be believed, they should last well longer than your requirement and be able to handle your data footprint using multiple, but not an unreasonable amount of discs.
No matter which solution you choose, if you are targeting multiple decades, you must save not only the media, but ideally the drive, computer and software used to archive. There is no guarantee that any of the existing technology will be relevant or backward compatible across several decades.

Repeat after me - proxies are not used for security.
If you believe this, you are extremely uninformed at best. Proxies are routinely used for security in situations like this and are used to secure many of the apps that you use on the public internet today.
Thank you OP for creating this app! Please ignore any negativity from ignorant detractors.
I understand this take and the frustration it is born out of, however, extremes are rarely the right answer. If this were a series of posts, I would gladly read along and expect that the author would learn some valuable lessons from this approach.
Are certain things often needlessly complex? Sure. Does that come at a cost? Sure.
However as a business (or deployment) grows, it becomes subject to more requirements, regulations, risks, etc. that often demand the complexities that the industry and author have witnessed.
All business decisions are made through a lens. What is important today? Based on what I know today, what does the future hold? What constraints do I have? The key is a logical, but balanced decision.
Services such as these do exist, but I believe there is a social/mental stigma to them, in addition to any cost barrier. A lot of people think “this will never happen to me” or “maybe I will need this when I’m older, but not now.”
Came here for this comment. I don’t think the word “literally” means what they think it does.
The company has previously been accused of a “shoot the messenger” strategy in which workers were punished for raising safety concerns.
Both literally and figuratively
Here is a company that is trying to do the right thing: Tony’s Chocolonely
Note: I am not affiliated in any way, but simply heard about them via another story.
The first few seasons are great TV! Admittedly, I’m struggling to finish the most recent season as it isn’t as good as the early seasons. I wholeheartedly recommend this series for the great cast and interesting subject matter (NY based financial, legal, political)!
I understand your sentiment and it is especially poignant these days, but that is literally the only reason they exist in the first place. If we need to take action (which I agree has now reached that point) their position should be eliminated as they have made themselves redundant.
