- They got rid of that motto in 2018. And you could theoretically argue that Google was getting worse since its conception in 1998.

I guess. And then they removed the “Don’t be evil” motto just to drive the point home.
But you have to agree, the company DID become even worse once they started using AI.

Good for you. I Meant as a design choice for a search engine. Why waste electricity?

Google became crap ever since they added AI. Microsoft became crap ever since they added AI. OpenAI started losing money the moment they started working on AI. Coincidence? I think not!
Rational people don’t want Abominable Intelligence anywhere near them.
Personally, I don’t mind the AI overviews, but they shouldn’t show up every time you do a search. That’s just a waste of energy.
Read my crusty tobacco-infused lips “I am not trying to sell you anything.” I literally said so. And even if I did, I’m not a biochemist, just friends with a few of them. It would be easier for me (and probably for you too) to get the extract from a human pineal gland than ISRIB.
Have you tried therapy? I’ve heard the placebo effect is all the rage nowdays.
And by the way, you can’t get into legal trouble by just discussing drugs. I could tell you how to build a bomb, and neither of us would be in legal trouble. There might be some questions, yes, some authorities knocking on some doors, but knowledge is still a free, unregulated resource (if you know where to look (kind of like mining for gold in your backyard)).
And by the by the way, supressing the stress response is not mind-expanding, it’s synthetic coping. While you’re at it, why don’t you just go ahead and turn off other biological responses. Just turn off all of them, why not, become the perfect worker, get exploited at the cost of your human experience. Great deal. No offense, this was meant to be a hyperbolic joke. (apparently I need to specify to be understood). Not the coping part though, that’s just my unfiltered opinion.
I don’t think they make sleep depravation in pill form.
Although…
Wait, is this a serious inquiry? Because I could give you an extensive list of mind-expanding substances I allegedly used in the past. I could even tell you a purely theoretical method of acquiring each of them, as well as the effects they have.
And just so we’re clear, I am not offering to sell you non-taxable goods via the internet. It’s a terrible business strategy.
You can send me a private message if you’re interested in exchanging knowledge/information. I will tell you what you want to know, but in exchange I will expect the same.
Time is an illusion. But I understand, people have jobs and families.
Not related to anything: I think this is the peak of my character arc. I’ve been visited by an Angel, I insulted a Pig, and I argued philosophy with the World’s Dumbest Man. I’m pretty sure this is how myths are made.
And if you do find some time to argue philosophy (and bullshit topics in general), please check out https://lemmy.world/c/Hermes_Collective. Judging by your displayed name and what I’ve seen on your profile, you’d feel right at home.
I know, shameless plug, sorry. Just check it out if you find time. Hope it’s not against TOS, because I’m too lazy to check rn. Cheers! :)
That’s one of many reasons I do not respect structures of power. Who says what is right and what is wrong. Not people who say they have the authority do do so, that’s for sure. Lables like “masculine” or “functioning” are just lables made up by people to categorize and dehumanize others. Everybody’s a person, and everybody has the right to do with their life what they want. But most people don’t see that and blindly follow a path that was laid out for them. Is it “masculine” to fight and die in a war you have no stake in? Or is it stupid? Is it “masculine” to want to protect your loved ones? Or is it just human nature?
This is a deep topic, I could literally write several pages about it, but I’ll spare you my poor attempts at philosphy. Unless that’s what you’re into.
Women and the folk who don’t categorize themselves will never understand the deep masculane urge of self destruction. Of going down in a “blaze of glory” even if you’re ultimately wrong.
The stereotype of masculinity was always a meme that drove men to destruction. The tribal warriors and knights of ye olde times idealized this type of crap too. It’s been a part of humanity ever since writing was invented, probably longer. It’s a strange part of being human.

That doesn’t fully answer my question, but thanks anyway. I won’t bother you with silly queries anymore. As I can now clearly see, this is serious business. Thank you once again, and may God have mercy on our souls.

Okay, so, Onion-like and Onion-esque content is okay, as long as it’s not The Onion. Good to know. I always prefer to ask people in the know aside from just reading the rules. Rules are a bit reductive, and there are so many interpretations. Thanks. But I still don’t know if personal stories with no outside source are allowed. Like, things you read in a newspaper or watch on local news. That kind of thing. I can’t really provide sourcess for those, since the media doesn’t usually provide a source. And is this place for English-only stories or can I post translated/untranslated sources? Because believe me, all media is a circus, not just the media in English. It’s multicultural.

I have a purely empirical question. If this is NOT The Onion, then what is it? Is it everything except for The Onion, or is it an Onion-adjacent community. Will I be banned for posting onions and onion related media. By extension is Shrek allowed, as he is like an onion, which in term has layers, which in term is like an ogre, but also like a person. So is it kind of like The Onion, or nothing like The Onion? You say not to post politics, but all news is political. So I’m not really sure what I’m looking at. And I’m not sure how to engage. And if this is a place for true stories that sound fake, do they have to be sourced, or can they be personal stories. I just need some clarification, that’s all. Thanks in advance.
I did not know that. Never noticed a pop up. And does this work with both search engines? You can turn off the AI features on DuckDuckGo with like two clicks, but I can’t seem to find the option on Google.
