I’m tempted to write one. I might be terrible and write it in Node (still a CLI), because I don’t want to write all the TUI components in Go, and I don’t know Rust, sorry.

I mean officially. In the POSIX standard, it has officially been replaced. de facto standard as by users, it has remained dominant. We have just not been following POSIX as closely as we could (and we don’t have any reason to).

32·2 years agoIm really hoping, waiting, for a good dense long-term storage medium. It doesn’t have to be fast, but large, cheap, and durable. I want a way to backup my plex library, or even, daily backups of documents and project files, and I don’t want to think about them ever again.

18·2 years agoIt’s wildly underpaid and the developers are highly highly skilled devs. They work in game dev because they want to, but the money isn’t there. Most game developers are working at tiny studios hoping for a break.

1·2 years agoThere’s just no way you could reasonably expect retail employees to verify games. There will need to be an automated system that is more difficult to bypass than it’s worth, and that will likely be more expensive than it’s worth.
We are getting to a point where there are fakes out there that are 100% identical to the real thing, and aren’t all that cheap. It’s an interesting situation.
