Gaming@beehaw.org•Game Consoles Are Pricing Themselves Out of Relevance
1·21 hours agoConsoles are a joke now.
I totally abandoned consoles in 2006 right before the release of the PS3 and never looked back. My shiny new 8800 GTX was a much better use of that cash.
20 years later and my gaming backlog spans decades. All of which are perfectly playable today.

Technology@lemmy.world•‘A’ Grades Are Suddenly Everywhere Since the Arrival of ChatGPTEnglish
27·1 day agoThis happened to me. I was a pretty good kid; brainy too, but one history test kicked my ass. The teacher was the husband of my grandfather’s sister. A distant family cut me a break.
This phenomenon can continue into adulthood too.
However, after a certain point it’s not about the grades you make. It’s about the hands you shake.

My cynical side suspects there may have been enough dipshits throughout history who claimed a small patch of land as a “sovereign state” for a short while before losing it.
250 years. We had a good run, but no empire lasts forever. I’m sure the Greeks, Romans, Ottomans and Mongols thought they would be around forever too.
