Wtf with titles this days 🤦.
Oikio@lemmy.worldto Tycoon Games@lemmy.world•Transport Fever 2 and its deluxe edition at historical lowest price (75% off for both)English3·3 months agoThis is a very, very good game.
That sucks, did not know, happy I am that both my Beyerdynamics and audio technica headphones are still repairable though. At least majority of parts.
If you already have another pair or buds, I would just use them instead for scenarios outside of your working/gaming place, because there will be compromises.
I can’t recommend much, but I also have Anker Space Q45, they are closed, have optional jack cable connection, Bluetooth with LDAC (high Bitrate Bluetooth codec), quality is OK and sound is not bad, they do have very good active noise canceling. If I had to choose only one pair, I would check them out. It’s just that if you mostly game an Kosten music by computer, Beyerdynamics DT 990 a lre on another level of l quality, longevity and), comfort and sound.
Beyerdynamic DT 990 are about 150, nice open headphones. Both people with requests to sound and casual listeners enjoy (me and my wife as example). They are built very well. My pair is 12 years old and as new when I replace ear pads. They do have very high level of sound quality and detail, hard to beat in leven double price range. I play games, listen and create music in them, due to mindful construction and open back they can be worn for a long time. Sound is open, crisp, with a lot of highs and pretty detailed. If you don’t have anything to drive them, take 80ohm. If you need more volume or better sound, consider cheap, good sounding digital audio converter (DAC) and amplifier - check FIIO brand for example, ka11 (40$) is good and very portable, I also use it with my steam deck. But there are other models cheaper.
Sennheisers have a lot of good pairs, but I cannot recommend anything from expirience, Audio Technica is Japanese company and their headphones are good sounding, but a lot of their headphones are fragile.
Overall aim for open headphones as they are better when you wear them for long periods like during gaming. And use return policy to your advantage.
Oikio@lemmy.worldto RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Retro games worth picking up on Android?English2·5 months agoI still question myself why did not I try it before as it changed my quality of waiting on different places like public transport by large margin:
Try turn based games with Lemuroid (frontend for emulators on android). No gamepad required, always in your pocket, everything works out of the box.
I’m playing psp Valkyria Chronicles and it is great. Such games are perfect format for phone, as anything where reaction and precision is necessary needs gamepad. And you either need to own a retro dedicated handheld and take it with you, or (if you have one) take cumbersome Steamdeck like handheld, which is not feasible for 30 minutes ride.

Oikio@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What is the best post sort for Lemmy?2·6 months agoAs some other people suggested, I can also add vote to scaled, especially on subscribed communities.
I don’t spend that much time on lemmy and smaller communities don’t get attention in my feed otherwise. With scaled they pop up pretty often.
Oikio@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•RetroArch on Fedora has blank screen through Steam Link only5·6 months agoI tried steam link for several games in last weeks and it seems that black screen issue exists in quite some of them. My case is Nvidia on Wayland and it seems to me that could be a culprit in my case. If it’s the case for you, too - try xorg first.
Sorry, can’t help you, but interested in solution, too.
Oikio@lemmy.worldto Steam@lemmy.ml•Do you overthink your Steam categories or are you normal?English4·6 months agoI was playing this game too much, with complex system which never actually encouraged me to play any of the games I have categorized (and I had similar system as OP). Please dear fellow gamers - don’t fall into same trap =)
Now I have only 4:
- WTP - want to play games, be them new or on repeat.
- VR - same as WTP, but for VR.
- Done - for games which are finished, but I have a feeling that I would like to recall them several years later.
- Done-done - for games which I’m not going to ever play again. Either bad games, or which have fully fulfilled their purpose and there is nothing to do anymore.
I use recent sorting, which help a lot to mitigate any kind of lock on what to play today. It’s more like recommendation
I am trying to free myself from finishing games 100% and avoid all side/boring activities, also now I’m free to pick whichever game I want, instead of planned (like work) consumption with previous system.
It has really brighten my playtime, now it feels more like joy than before.
Oikio@lemmy.worldMto Song I Love (And Want To Share)@lemmy.world•Traditional - 十面埋伏 (16th century/19th century)English1·6 months agoIt looks correct now.
If society tries to suppress something that will find it’s way, you will get it back, but hidden, harder to detect and maybe even changed in a harmful way.
We had it as humanity with alcohol bans, war on drugs, hateful speech bans and etc. We need systematic regulations for unavoidable, not prohibitions which will leak from all places.
Leaving it be while being explicit is reasonable.
Can’t help here, not even tried. But I don’t know if it should matter for tablet, installed stuff does not disturb you in any way and regarding your data leaking to manufacturer - same goes to other brands, too. Xiaomi launcher is fine, simple like an iPad, I would prefer it differently, but comparing tablet usage to phone - in tablet I only need to start my app (tachiyomi, draw app or jellyfin) and launcher does not matter anymore. Phone is used heavier and in more diversed way.
If you are looking for something to tinker with, it’s better to look at list of supported devices of OS you are going to install. I have stopped looking into such things, can’t help here either, sorry.
Xiaomi pad 6 is great, I bought two for me and my wife to read manga and draw occasionally, rarely we watch something, it has very nice screen and sound. It’s reasonably priced and is overall nothing to complain about if you are OK with bloatware.

I am a hobbyist and was using ableton live before. As mentioned by others, unless you dual boot - try bitwig studio for similar experience. It is from people who worked in ableton. Have a trial, pirate if can’t afford now.
Foss alternative - ardour is great, but you will have to bring your own plug in suit.
Yabridge tool can help you to run windows vsts on Linux, but not everything works. And beware - it does not work with flatpak version Bitwig, at least it did not.
