    Those watches look pretty cool, I’ve never heard of them before. Their designs are really simple and clean. And now when I look at my watch, do I really need the minute hand? If I’m not timing anything, the second hand really just adds clutter to the dial.

    It looks like they use sellita movements. I have a watch with an SW200 that I’ve worn daily for the last 2.5 years and it’s been pretty good, no real issues or complaints, keeps decent time around +5 seconds per day. If you don’t have the seconds or minutes hand, you’ll only have to adjust the time like once a month or less.

    I think there’s probably people who would be interested in talking about a valve design flaw, but based on the Wikipedia article, seems like the valve may not be to blame. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garden_Grove_chemical_leak

    Not really sure what your comment is about, but I am really interested in how a situation like this could be handled. The polymerizing chemical probably caused an isolation valve to stick shut. Sounds like the relief valve was working and by cooling the tank with water firefighters were able to decrease the pressure enough to have the relief valve close.

    I guess I’m still a little confused about where the rupture hazard was coming from if the tank wasn’t over pressurized and it wasnt really hot enough (~100 F) to decrease material properties of the tanks.

    Maybe they were worried about the situation that they seemed to have under control turning into a runaway reaction?
