LiberalSocialist [any,they/them]@hexbear.netOPto news@hexbear.net•Paizo and other RPG publishers announce a new, irrevocable and system-agnostic Open RPG Creative (ORC) licence.English0·2 years agoYeah but that’s a complete misunderstanding of what Paizo is doing. The Open RPG Creative (ORC) License is not something Paizo can pull a WOTC on because Paizo doesn’t own it.
They’re footing the bill for the thing to be created by a proper law firm in conjunction with multiple other rpg makers that will be held by a non-profit agency. It is also specifically made to be irrevocable and perpetual. It is also systems agnostic - because, again, the goal isn’t to create an OGL for Pathfinder, but an ORC that can provide a systematic way for all rpgs to be opened up to fans and other creators.
Either Colville doesn’t understand this, which is unlikely, or he doesn’t want to be a part of the open rpg movement.
Add in the silence from Crit Role and Dimension 20, it seems like all these big actual play creators and communities have no interest in open rpg or any desire to express solidarity with 3PP.

Edit - BTW, looks like Matt Colville will not be a part of this.

Also:
I seriously read through most of Marx, Lenin, Nietzsche, Camus, Popper, Hegel, Kant, McLuhan, Sartre, de Beauvoir, Baudrialluad, Butler, Foucault, Shelley, etc
Holy motherfucking shit.
LiberalSocialist [any,they/them]@hexbear.netOPto askchapo@hexbear.net•What’s with this recent anti-Zizek sentiment?English0·2 years agoHow’s he reactionary? I’m serious. I don’t know shit about him other than the memes but this is like suddenly hearing Chomsky or Parenti are reactionary anti-commies.

There are thousands of sci-fi stories about humans killing each other (and other aliens) in space. Every time humans are the “good guys” and the military etc bs gets valorised. This is the one franchise where humans are unquestionably evil and we side with the native people.

I’m 100% for criticising AOC and other progressive politicians. But it has to be measured and appropriate.
It cannot be done in such a way that boosts the countless politicians who are so much worse. And the criticism has to be aimed at improving the situation, whether by pushing progressive politicians to the left, or by creating/boosting left orgs and platforms etc.
The moderate and right wings of capitalism want to take down the left flank (progressive politicians) and we have to be wary of that and prevent that.
LiberalSocialist [any,they/them]@hexbear.netOPto chapotraphouse@hexbear.net•Hexbear is going down a dangerous path with the anti-AOC and anti-Squad rhetoric.English1·3 years agoAccelerationism, that is, letting fascism run wild in the hopes of that building up a socialist alternative, is a ludicrous ideology that will only lead to millions of deaths.

LiberalSocialist [any,they/them]@hexbear.netOPto chapotraphouse@hexbear.net•Hexbear is going down a dangerous path with the anti-AOC and anti-Squad rhetoric.English0·3 years agoI mean, the analogy breaks down, so maybe I shouldn’t have carried on with it.
I meant organising unions and co-ops and parties is easier under social democracy than under fascism.
LiberalSocialist [any,they/them]@hexbear.netOPto chapotraphouse@hexbear.net•Hexbear is going down a dangerous path with the anti-AOC and anti-Squad rhetoric.English0·3 years agoI mean, yeah, social democracy is not socialism. It’s capitalism. It will not directly lead to socialism. But opposing carrots is objectively easier than sticks.
