Okay, so about #1: Is there more to it than him setting of one single post praising Trump’s business skills? I mean, that’s pretty stupid, but stamping him as “Pro-MAGA” for that seems a bit far fetched still.
About #2: That’s also concerning and pretty bad as it reads, but any company basically has to abide the country’s laws, so if Interpol orders the Swiss police to fetch the data, no legally operating company can really do anything about it or they’re gone as well. A similar thing happened to Tutanota in Germany, iirc.
Something I missed?
Well, the technology started there, but depending on what you call the “Internet”, that’s not really correct. The concept of the World Wide Web was formed at Cern in Switzerland. Before, there was no public access to anything.
Although government control is a part of it, I wouldn’t say that’s the main reason the public net sucks today. I guess it’s more people being comfortably dumb and loving to be enslaved by corporations left and right.
So it actually is kinda like that recent “Eating a bag of silica to escape the simulation” meme, then?
So, this might change in the future and is not representative of every person here, but as an European, the USA would be one of the last places on my list to flee to if I had to. The current administration has made it more than clear that Europeans are not welcome (that doesn’t speak for all US Americans, of course, but still).
Canada or a South American country like Brazil would be a much better choice.
If not America, there’s North Africa (Tunisia, Egypt), Turkey (which is arguably part of Europe in certain ways) and maybe even a Caucasus state, depending on what kind of war I’m fleeing from.
Some of those might be better suited for a longer stay than others.
Ist doch die korrekte Vorgehensweise, wie soll man das sonst reproduzieren?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•People around the world are trying to learn English because it's the Lingua Franca, but imagine if the Lingua Franca of the world was a Tonal Language and the writing system was Logographic.
4·13 天前The singer of Chthonic, a Taiwanese metal band, explained this briefly in an acoustic live recording. You do have to watch out which tone you choose exactly, otherwise the meaning can change drastically. I also think this is part of the “sound” that you get in these cultures.

5·15 天前We do call it that in German as well, I mean, not colloquially, but it’s used in literature or poetry.

You can compute on DDR3 just fine, I do it every day…
Yeah, seriously. This whole “Firefox on mobile doesn’t support adblock/extensions” sentinent is very stubborn, yet I’ve been using them for multiple years without fail at this point.

I mean, when I tried to fit my corebooted Dell Precision T1650 board into a new case and noticed the messed up proprietary front panel terminals, the where/what/how quickly became a factor…
Had to pull 3V from the TPM before to power an LED, but that one doesn’t have a port, so I had to solder an adapter.
