13·6 days agoIronic of you to talk about putting countries ahead of one’s wants, considering that russians suffer from the war just as much lately, which happens because some old fart wanted to conquer Kyiv in three days, and now that he realized he won’t be able to take it, refuses to take the L, demanding Ukraine to give away the districts that his army didn’t even fully capture, prolonging the pointless human meat grinding against the drones.

2·13 days agoafter they dropped Wu Lin (chinese characters) and then Vortiger, the quality of animations for new characters started to drop little by little. Then they dropped CCU (aka core combat update), it’s goal was to establish the “attacking” meta, which, translating from community manager speak, means that they intentionally sped up lots of attack animations, narrowing the parry windows, making them look ridiculous, and in some cases making some of them practically impossible to react to. In modern FH you can win by basically button-mashing your opponent to death.
Also, since then they have added lots of characters that either look out of place thematically, or have some kind of cancerous abilities, or both in some cases. I’m not an expert on the matter of modern For Honor, since i left when CCU dropped.

5·13 days ago2017-2018 was peak purely technologically speaking. AC Unity, despite the rough launch, in terms of pure graphics still could rival modern slop, while requiring only a fraction of compute power, while rendering huge crowds and on top of all of that featuring a motion-matching system, making animations fluid and clean af. For Honor was the first game where they used motion matching, while also offering interesting combat mechanics.
Say all you want, but during those years there still were talented and creative people at Ubisoft.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•The fact that you can’t run through Windows setup w/o internet and an online account is absolute bullshit
1·15 days agoOne out of ~12 windows versions not installing a driver = bad Only 3 Linux distros out of hundreds installing a driver = good
Windows server is not “one of ~12 windows versions”. It’s a windows distribution that exists in parallel with normal windows.
IIRC, microsoft added automatic driver installation only in windows 10, so even if i indulge your sloppy attempt at drawing equivalence between major windows releases and linux distros, it’s two for three, and not in windows’ favor. Except there’s no equivalence. Windows versions exist much like any major release of any OS distribution with fixed release model.
Imagine a distro so bad, it has no package manager (or any software version control, for the matter). It has no customization, supports only the most primitive and prehistoric file systems. It’s so bad that even the users that were conditioned to use it prefer to stay on a decade old releases of it because the newer ones are just that much worse. Actually, you don’t have to imagine, because that’s just windows. The only advantage windows has is it’s desktop market share, but even that’s slowly diminishing lately.
Also damn near every Linux distro has some sort of bloatware. There’s always apps I don’t want because I won’t use them or because I prefer something else.
Guess what? Unlike in Windows, you can delete all of it, just like literally any other program that you have installed. You don’t want it to be installed in the first place? Boy, do i have news for you, because Arch, minimal NixOS or even Gentoo exist just for you!
That’s the beauty of Linux, and FOSS in general. It gives you freedom. Windows only takes it, more and more. Each year windows gets slightly worse. Each year linux gets slightly better.
Ubuntu comes to mind as the biggest offender.
Preinstalled software suite is not even in top 10 of the things that are wrong with ubuntu. It’s just a bad distro. I’ll tell you more, despite whatever people are saying, Debian and all of its derivatives in general are quite less than ideal for your average desktop PC user.

1·17 days agowell duh, of course it varies. Do you expect Windows Server to automatically install gpu drivers too? On CachyOS, EndeavorOS and Bazzite everything also works out of the box. And you don’t even need to disable one hundred and one microsoft-mandated bloatware when you install them.

32·20 days agouhm… you don’t have to hope…? You can literally check which driver is installed. You can even install preferable driver version via your package manager and delete mesa drivers if you don’t want your system to ever use the integrated gpu.

11·20 days agoFor a FOSS project you share surprisingly low amounts of info about it: the most vague concept there could possibly be, no tech stack, no ideas, literally nothing, which only tells me that there’s no so called “initiative” that you’re a part of, it’s just you, and your attempt to make other people spend their time and resources to make the game of your dreams for you. Except, judging by the vague (probably AI-written) post here, by laggy (at least on my phone) the most basic-looking landing page you could find (which is 99% vibe-coded), you aren’t willing to put even the slightest effort to do even that properly.
If i were ever to develop a foss game, i’d much rather avoid people like you, because what you do is less than mediocre. Judging by others’ reaction, i’m not the only one here.
