  • Thank you for editing the post to clarify the fact. However, I would say this has a much higher likelihood of just being some student who attempted to be witty. Culture here is definitely westernized to a certain degree, and most people know english very well, so this is pretty much the result, as well as seeing certain western memes on some of the banners.

Although I will say, me and comrades I know definitely don’t like the whole bloody hand messaging shit, and it definitely has some liberal undertones. But at the end of the day, the students much like Vucic, don’t actually have an ideology since the protests are just about the country being a criminal, dysfunctional piece of shit.

  • How many fucking times do we have to teach you this lesson?

There probably isn’t a country in Europe that hates the US more than Serbia. Literally being bombed in `99 by them. Also why this picture in particular? Why not something like this?

Ah yes, because that doesn’t compute for the westerner who is used to a good-bad distillation. The truth is, this is an extremely complicated situation, in which the government is hilariously supported by all of America, EU, Russia and China(mostly on the dl, since none of their people have officially made a statement). Serbian workers are exploited from the Chinese companies in LingLong and Zijin to German Draxlmaier and them constantly being fucked over in western countries, where they go illegally, being super-exploited by the western capitalists making them work ridiculous hours. Whilst I’m not going to sit here and pretend this is some socialist revolution, it is not a colour one, period, and I’m fucking tired of having to explain this every single fucking time to someone who knows fuck all about it, but then acts like some kind of credible authority figure. Ultimately, the nonsense you spat out is no better than the shit they say on r/europe, where you originally probably took the picture from, claiming that Vucic is solely supported by Putin, when they themselves not too long ago where blatantly showing their neo-colonialism talking about lithium mining in Serbia. They were straight up claiming serbs were making up “conspiracies” about Rio Tinto, a company which literally could destroy a great portion of the land, poisoning water sources and soil alike, all so Europe could take the lithium for themselves and have “energy independence”. If you want to know the general environment in Serbia, I don’t think Assange does a bad job here, and oh yeah, there are literal WikiLeaks documents about SNS (Vucic’s party) being made by the US and EU, aswell as the hilarious “mistake” of a premature congratulation of victory from the EU to Tomislav Nikolic, Vucic’s (former) partner in crime.j

  • Your concern is appreciated, but you must realize Serbia already had a color revolution, in fact the first in the world which could be classified as such. Ever since then, the government supported by the US/EU has not done shit to even improve peoples lives whatsoever, privatizing many industries which is regarded as a universally bad move. This current government is only in place because it is thought that that last government at least had somewhat of a spine and didn’t want to give up Kosovo, whereas this one has given the west everything and more than it wanted. I mean fuck me, we don’t even have 5G because there was an agreement signed that strictly prohibited us from buying the infrastructure from China! Not only that, but these same students and people collectively rose up when the filthy capitalist war criminals in Rio Tinto wanted to mine lithium, all with full fledged support from the US and EU, but particularly the EU because they have a vested interest in being energy independent from China. Also, considering the EU and collective west response to the Georgian color revolution when compared to this, are you really convinced there isn’t a massive difference? Especially given the fact you are probably hearing about this for the first time ever. Could probably write more, but it’s a little late here, but here’s my comment from some time ago

  • Don’t know where you live, but people in Serbia aren’t protesting only because of this singular canopy, but because of a series of corruption scandals and overall malpractice that spans as far back as the collapse of Yugoslavia. From aflatoxin levels in the milk being 10x than what is allowed in most countries to the weapons being sold to literal fucking ISIS, this situation is simply the straw that broke the camels back. If I were to start listing all the affairs committed by the government, it would literally take me a year to finish. And don’t even get me started on Vucic straight-up being a EU/US vassal, installed as a puppet to completely erase Serbian influence and institutions from Kosovo, leaving Serbs still living there to the mercy of the ethno-nationalist Kosovo “government”.
