Seriously, I tried to get through his comments but just wanted to throw my phone.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am, at how hard spez tried multiple times to push his spin about reddit was subsidizing “competitors” for so many years, so this is only fair! :'< The entire interview just comes across as defensive, cranky, and snide.

I got the vibe that his belief is that the users of 3PAs have somehow “betrayed” reddit by having the audacity to not use the official app. Then saying that 3PAs don’t bring anything of value to reddit, reeks of jealousy. I started using BaconReader long before there was a official app. I can guarantee that reddit would not have become as habitual for me if not for those apps, and I’d guess that’s the case for others here too. I was really hopeful the blackout would encourage reddit to work out some compromise so then I could enjoy going back to the site. The more of these comments I hear though the less appealing re-joining reddit seems.

Same. I had RES for desktop and RiF for android and switched to Apollo for iOS. There are just so many things that they could integrate for a good user experience but they don’t for whatever reason. I started reddit after I migrated from Digg back in 2011. There wasn’t an app, so I used a third party. They could’ve handled everything so much better, but they’re just being assholes.

    Stopped reading after this…

“What they didn’t like is the price, but the price is the price. It just happens to be expensive to run an app like Reddit.”

    Heh, no.
