I currently use TickTick for managing my todo tasks. i haven’t been able to find an FOSS replacement for it yet.

The main features that I need in an app like this would be:

  1. It should be accessible from the desktop. Don’t necessarily need an app, a website is good enough.
  2. It should have a decent android app with a home screen widget for listing all the upcoming and overdue tasks.
  3. It’ll be really nice if it can interpret date and time from the task description to add reminders. For example, writing “Remind me to get some milk at 6pm” will put a reminder for that task at 6PM.

Please let me know if you know about such an app. Thanks.

This thread is now dedicated to finding a FOSS alternative to TikTok

Nah I think The Fediverse Short-Form Media Hosting Platform has a better ring

ooo you may be on to something! It really rolls off the tongue! Add a few words and turn it into a recursive acronym and nobody will be able to resist the raw marketing genius!

Man, how have I not come across this before. I and I know so many others have been looking for exactly this for quite some time.

Why there are so many to-do apps that are subscription based is beyond me.

I have never been able to find a foss app that’s as good as TickTick.

I tried various apps like tasks.org and more, but I kept coming back to TickTick

I use the tasks function that comes with my email (mailbox). But, this would work with any WebDAV capable server.

    • I can use it on the web
    • I can interact with it on Android using https://tasks.org/
      • It has a voice function for creating reminders and a widget
    • On desktop I use todoman but other apps work as well
    • The tasks are shown on my calendars as well

This is what I do, too (similar), though SP might be better for OP.

If you’re a real nerd, you could look into org-mode. Doom-Emacs is great on the deskrop and Orgzly is awesome on my phone. Orgzly also has some useful widgets. No luck on natural language dates, tho
