NVIDIA today launched four new Linux graphics drivers, yes four. 545.29.02 is the bigger one with all the new stuff, but they also launched 535.129.03, 525.147.05 and 470.223.02 due to newly disclosed security issues.

Is this a stable 545 release, or just another point release for the 545.23.06 beta?

Nvidia has this classed as a “New Features Branch” release, as opposed to a “Production Branch” release, so… Beta?

No, it’s a Stable driver. Production and New Feature are both Stable branches.

Does this still have the top of screen flickering issue I, and many others, are having? I had to roll back from 5.35 to 5.25 to make it stop.

No, thankfully that was resolved with this update.

I can’t wait to try it with Wayland and Steam.
I mainly play games with my Linux PC.

So, can we finally switch to Wayland?

If you don’t use any XWayland apps, yeah - this is still a major blocker unfortunately assuming they didn’t make any significant changes between the beta from a couple of weeks ago and now.

so is my pop os have this in their repos eventually? I’m a noob with all this. Linux gaming works so far on pop os and heroic launcher so I don’t want to mess anything up. feel like it’s jenga

Yes PoP OS is going to update the driver in their repos to this versions. Unless you realy want the new driver just wait the few days/weeks it will take for it to arrive in the official repos
