Compared to plans presented earlier this year laying out how the existing Route 7 would be converted into a RapidRide line, designs released this week only include two new stop pairs. That adjustment is unlikely to assuage concerns around decreasing access to transit in the Rainier Valley.
Really, we should add two routes, a local and an express, but given that King County Metro isn’t even bothering to apply for federal matching funds, we’re stuck with this single route that serves both purposes poorly
“We appreciate that Metro took community feedback into account and added back additional stops between Judkins Station and Mt Baker,” the letter from TRU’s bus and transit subcommittee noted. “We are still concerned by the large gaps created by consolidation which effectively choose to convert this route from its current attempt to be both a local and long distance service into an express bus skipping past parts of the south end. We would like to see this project go to further planning with wiggle room on which stops to move and remove.”
I miss the express routes
