The US is a lynchpin of global finance and trade. And a lot of EU member states are already heavily compromised with Trump-aligned officials.

Add to that… the EU isn’t really against disinformation. It’s against information hostile to the confederation’s mission and goals. The EU leadership is nakedly hostile to pro-Russian propaganda, but significantly more accommodating to pro-Israel propaganda, for instance.
