Has anyone had experience with reliably exporting their chat history and deleting all messages and interactions throughout servers and DMs in Discord?
I am currently targeting deleting all my messages across servers and DMs as well as exporting complete chat logs in DMs and whatever messages I’ve sent in servers. If possible I would also like to extract complete chat logs from smaller servers through channels I’m allowed to chat in.
I worry losing important info shared among my conversations and getting myself banned in the process for doing the purging or exporting the wrong way. If anyone can help, I’d greatly appreciate it!
I used https://redact.dev/ though I recall having to buy a year license to use it to it’s full potential. It however was very effective.
Interesting to see a dedicated SaaS for social media content removal. Unfortunately my message history spans years and I do not wish to purchase its subscription, so it would not be of much help. Thanks for sharing this nonetheless.
Use https://discorch.org/ for servers. It does not violate the Discord TOS and won’t get you banned.
- use DiscordChatExporter-incrementalBackup to backup to json (there’s a web viewer made by the same dev)
- use this UnDiscord fork to purge all messages
I also highly recommend redact, It’s 100$ a year … but very worth it. It downloads and archives all your mesages from most social media and communication apps and it allows you to automatically delete them.
If you want something free, use undiscord (it’s a greasemonkey script)
