That’s exactly where spic games will end up, as the gaming industry crawls towards playing on their remote hardware and renting that space.
Epic games is probably an ideal candidate to buy if this is your expectation for the industry AND you own streaming giant.
I wonder how the fight with Apple would play out if Epic was owned by Disney.
Apart from gaming, Disney has been using Epic’s Unreal Engine in a product called StageCraft, where a virtual set is rendered on large, extremely high resolution LED screens forming the backdrop and ceiling of a set, as an alternative to chromakey with blue or green screens.
Most people have probably never heard of StageCraft. It is usually referred to by the actual stage implementation, The Volume.
Sounds a bit concerning. Whatever Disney touches tends to turn to shit. It’s sort of like a reverse Midas touch, but with extra Disney flavor.
Does epic games even have any good games?
Fortnite remains #1 by revenue in the US and Europe, while the main game’s average critic score is 84. So by the global metric, not only is it good, but superb. Personally, I really liked Rocket Racing but that was shut down due to low engagement.
It’s mostly the same selection as steam and gog.

It’s probably because I said steam is better. I’ve recently had the most appalling experience with epics customer support that I won’t ever be using the launcher again, so it tracks.
