How is COSMIC coming along. I’m still running 22.04 on my daily driver because I cannot afford instability and incompatibility.
I love it. I use it as my daily driver. Everything is stable for me and my wife - who uses it to run her business. And it feels like this is how operating system and DE are supposed to be designed and behave.
I just upgraded one install a couple weeks ago. The upgrade was fine. Manually installed packages were all removed so that was annoying. Not all config gets converted so a little more annoying. But otherwise it’s mostly ok. But as time goes on I find more and more buggy rough edges. Not enough where I’m regretting, but enough that I’m not upgrading my main yet. I think it’s honestly mostly Wayland issues somehow in 2026
Works great for me. Not everything is fully implemented though. Worth checking,

Everything that I use is stable even though you might find some rough edges. I haven’t been able to use my Wacom tablet since I switched form Ubuntu. I mean, maybe there is a way to configure it’s use in CosmicDE without the settings feature. Scrap paper and pen work fine during the interim. Definitely worth a test drive to see if things are complete enough for you.
Hopefully this means the pop is team can still work with these tools and not get flooded with bullshit from the public
Which is unfortunate because I was waiting on a pr that was going to fix the screenshot tool and the dude had an ai disclosure in their pr so it was closed. 😔
Yo, fellow COSMIC enjoyer here. Just wanted to recommend Flameshot if you don’t already use it.
It’s really easy to select an area, mark up/doodle on the screenshot, and paste the result somewhere.
What’s wrong with the screenshot tool? Just curious, I only use once in a while.
Save to clipboard doesn’t work most of the time
