This is a calendar advertising Koninklijke Paketvaart Maatschappij, which was a Dutch shipping line operating from 1888 to 1966. They had routes all around the world, Hong Kong, Brisbane, Cape Town, lots of others. They were also heavily involved in the allied war effort during WW-II, building troop ships, hospital ships, and others. There were mergers in the 60s, and today they have been folded into Maersk.
For all I would know, this could be a household name throughout Europe, but I don’t think it is very well known on this side of the pond.
Unknown date illustration of one of their ships.

1928 something.

I love this community. Thanks for sharing, and especially, explaining 😁
Thanks for saying that. It does take some time and effort to hunt down backstory for the images, so I’m happy to hear there are some who like that. ❤️
Consider the time spent to be appreciated 👌🏻
Who wouldn’t value hand-curated original and also interesting content that educates on the side?
I’m Dutch, and have lived in the Netherlands most of my life. I’ve never even heard of this…
Same! Thanks OP
YW! It often seems to happen that cool old ad art has a fascinating story behind it, when you dig into it a little.
Well I guess that answers whether it’s a household name throughout Europe, lol.
Maybe it’s better known among older folks who were in the 20+ yo range before the mid 1960s.
The thumbnail looks like a 2.5d shooter screenshot
It kind of does. Or an 80s vintage RPG.
