I never used to have issues with this bar, but when I got my current phone it’s using a version of Android that defaults to that newer bar-less gesture based control scheme. I hate that new system so I changed it back to the bar.

But now I have this problem where I frequently get accidental presses on the nav bar while typing. It’s a daily occurrence that I will accidentally hit the home button while typing anything, which is annoying as hell. This never used to happen before.

Is it maybe just the particular phone I have, or has anyone else noticed the same issue? It’s obnoxious enough that I keep looking into getting a device with physical keyboard.

      Funny enough, I actually like this setup more than the default. Reaching over across the screen to touch the back button just seems more difficult and error prone.

        aesthetically it hurts though. and since i’ve been on android since the buttons were actual buttons, it hurts my muscle memory as well

        also, unpopular opinion: if reaching part of the screen is a problem, the screen is too big.

      No, this is a Motorola phone with LineageOS. I switched it to have back on the right cause it’s better.

    You can set the keyboard to have padding at the bottom, so that there’s more distance between space and the home-button.

    If the pre-installed keyboard app doesn’t allow this, you can do it with HeliBoard, for example, in the settings under Appearance → Bottom padding scale.

      I’m using a Motorola phone with LineageOS. It defaults to gesture based navigation, but has the nav bar as an option. I hate the gesture nav, so I stick to the bar.
