It was of course always free on F-Droid, but this is welcome news for onboarding less technically inclined people to xmpp.
Never bought the app on the Play Store (got it through F-Droid), but support Daniel via Liberapay. Probably the most solid, reliable, no-bullshit messenger app that I have used.
Any privacy concerns?
Depends on who you ask. Generally most privacy concerns associated with XMPP can be mitigated by hosting your own server (or using a trusted one).
Very nice. Not to crash a thread but anybody running Monocles (one of many forks)?
Monocles uses a lot of generated code these days.
Anyway, I’ve switched to Cheogram and so far it seems more reliable.
EDIT: And the only reason I use Cheogram in addition to Conversations is because I need to seperate my group chat account from the account with which I talk to friends, so that I do not miss messages. :D
i had monocles for a bit but i like cheogram better.
can play chess!
Is that a webxdc app? edit: chess I mean

I find it always strange when people reply as if the person posting an article was the person who wrote it. Any particular reason why you did so?
I don’t think Daniel Gultsch actively subscribes to this community, although he does have his own Mastodon instance.
My bad lol. I read the whole article before commenting. was probably just sleepy
