Mod censored nothing yet but locked a thread that informed the zerowaste community that charities have recently started rejecting pre-spychip hardware, and as a consequence the hardware is being destroyed. This is not just any e-waste. It’s hardware that is irreplaceable because no consumer-grade chipmakers are currently making spychip-free processors anymore.
I don’t give a shit that the thread was locked. The abuse of power is in deciding for everyone to ban future posts about e-waste (and prevention thereof) w.r.t pre-spychips – a limited resource. It’s anti-thetical to the zerowaste mission of the community.
Note as well that no sidebar rule was created. So looks like it will be a kind of non-transparent selective enforcement. When mods have undisclosed rules, it’s a red flag for shananigans. People should know what rules are in play. It’s part of making a decision on whether a community is true to its superficial values.
obviously, looking at the thread, it was locked due to the comment chain. not the post itself.
if the post was the issue, itd have been removed.
further reading - you were an asshole in the comments. YDI.

Rule 1 victim abuse
I have to say I don’t consider myself a victim here. I’m not bothered that the thread was locked (ref: 4th sentence).
The zerowaste community is the victim. The zerowaste moderator intends to quietly block collaboration on preventing e-waste of hardware that respects people’s freedom, which is no longer produced.
Breadsmasher’s reading comprehension problem (or intellectual dishonesty) led to framing me as a self-perceived “victim” (a strawman of sorts) in order to make way for a giant red herring (for what b/s later unwittingly reveals serves their motivation for posting: to have a competition). It seems to have worked. The audience mostly fell for it. We don’t seem to have the deepest of critical thinkers here.
obviously, looking at the thread, it was locked due to the comment chain. not the post itself.
You’ve misunderstood the thread. The problem was not with locking the thread. Just read the thread title FFS.
literally your
firstsecond sentenceMod censored nothing yet but locked a thread
literally you did not reach the 4th sentence. Read the full post before responding, if you don’t want to make an ass of yourself.
k
no point engaging with clowns
Correction: no point in being an asshat while putting your reading comprehension problem on display.
Youre in the wrong in the linked thread. suck it up and move on.
why did you even post if you didn’t want to be challenged? you want an echo chamber?
Youre in the wrong in the linked thread. suck it up and move on.
I said a lot of things. Wrong about what?
why did you even post if you didn’t want to be challenged?
Good informative challenges are fine. “Challenges” (thread crap) by tech-challenged pro-corporate-bent brains - not so interesting.
(edit) It’s not a competition. The point of the thread was to inform the public about a waste problem to invite solutions and feedback about other instances of the problem. It was not to have the pissing contest that seems to be your drive for posting. It was not to look for reasons to justify spychips and e-waste. You failed to grasp the thesis and purpose of both that thread and this thread.
I’m so sorry that happened to you.
I’m so sorry that happened to you.
To be clear, it’s not about what happened to me. I don’t give a shit that the thread was locked. It’s about what happened to the zerowaste community, who can no longer discuss prevention of e-waste of freedom-respecting hardware.
Don’t listen to this guy, he’s the one that put the spy chips in our CPUs.
