I raised a major flag at work over something which turned out to be false today.
I’ve realized i raised a false flag which should be called doing a trump.
Which if your English has another meaning and goes with it.

That’s not really what a “false flag” means.
It’s when someone (or country) pretends to be the opposing side and does something negative to their own side (i.e. flying the enemy’s flag and attacking one’s own ship) to justify “retaliatory” action.
In some parts of UK a ‘trump’ is a fart (its not related to Donald Trump, thats what the word has always meant).
Its kind of perfect when you think about it.
