They were victims that ended up contributing to a snowball effect. It’s likely that they were fleeing drought in the west by going East, but the East was already suffering the beginnings of it’s own collapse likely caused by their own drought and the breakdown of trade routes in tin, which was required for Bronze working.

It was likely a migrant crisis on top of an ecological crisis.
