She “visibly aged” because she’s fucking 90.
The difference between 90 and 94 isn’t just 4 years. At 90 you are already beyond the average global life expectancy by ~16 years. At that age, deterioration very often comes in sharp jags that coincide with the acute onset of various medical conditions.
Social media, doomscrolling and being chronically online are all bad for you, and should reasonably be avoided, but this is nonsense.
the post I thought was a bit of a joke, I did not think people would take it so literally. Of course someone above the age of 90 is going to decline due to age alone but I feel like it’s also a reminder of how much social media can suck the life force out of a person.
It’s more of a reminder that people are very apt to make things up for attention on the internet.
Argue against real aspects of negative things, not made up ones.
Great doomscroll content
my grandad turned a hundred this year, he spends all day in the nursing home on twitter, slinging racial slurs at celebrities. he doesn’t look a day over 90
maybe in this case social media is keeping him young and his brain stimulated
On the flip side, my grandmother was slowly losing mobility and her social life was going as well. We got her a computer and she started using social media to reconnect with just about everyone. We got her a phone later and now she spends her days connecting with whoever is available rather than watching TV.
