Its day 3 of probably a week long power outage here. The cell towers are overloaded, so watching video is tough. But I can download podcasts when I go to work (yes very cool, still have to do my 100% pointless job during a natural disaster)
I like these podcasts:
- True Anon
- Darknet Diaries
- This American Life (sometimes)
- Behind the Bastards (sometimes)
I was going to put more here but I did a purge of my subscriptions just now. These are the guys that made it.
I’m not really looking for news/politics podcasts, but feel free to recommend some. IDC.
I like podcasts that tell a story (this american life, darknet diaries) but I stay away from true crime stuff if its about like, ordinary people who got randomly murdered/SA’d.
Please recommend me your favorite podcast, even if its some niche interest you have. I’m bored and I appreciate it.
The Fall of Civilizations Podcast is the best podcast I’ve ever listened to.

There’s a new episode that was released a few weeks ago.
Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff - kind of the opposite of Behind the Basrards, and from the same group of creators, it is about what the name says, and very fun.
Citation Needed - funny discussions of insane situations and historical events, very fun.
That’s Absurd, Please Elaborate - two science communicators take an absurd question from their audience and answer it seriously.
This Week In Virology - scientists talking about viruses in an approachable and clear way. So cool.
Embrace the Void - philosophy stuff, lots of thinking about luck, cool interviews.
Philosophers in Space - philosophy but looking at science fiction and popular culture. Lots of cool books explored in fun ways.
The Know Rogan Experience - two people listen to Joe Rogan and stare in horror, explaining and rebutting the content. If you’ve ever heard about Joe Rogan you should consider listening to these guys.
This Podcast Will Kill You - cool science stuff, mostly around things that are deadly like poisons, diseases, and stuff like radiation.
That’s all I have that is not political, enjoy.
99 percent invisible
Yes! Can’t agree more - was going to mention this too. Great podcast.
Cautionary Tales is excellent! The production is top-notch, as is the writing. Every episode tells a true story and relates it to contemporary society. It’s one podcast I really look forward to new episodes.
Is it this one? I’m using AntennaPod, not sure what service its using for search:
Yes, that’s the one. There are certainly some standout episodes for me personally, but I’ve found all of them to be interesting if not enthralling… and certainly entertaining. Kind of a gold standard for what I like in a podcast (not to oversell it or anything 😆). (Like you, I do really enjoy Behind the Bastards too)
Hyperfixed
I think of history as a story, but understand if these are not what you’re looking for:
Revolutions by Mike Duncan, or if you are more interested in Rome, The History of Rome by Mike Duncan.
