Unironically, in my experience, the “theory” tends to amount to such reductionist and narrow viewpoints like: “People are stupid”, “humans suck”, “humans are tribal”, “nature is dog eat dog”.
The more elitist liberals especially love the first one because it gives them a path to feeling superior, even if their material reality is that of being a mundane working class cog in the machine.
One of my fav examples of how much libs despise actual democracy is how they denigrate any popular movements as populism. What they really believe in is rule by elites, and they find the idea of unwashed masses having any kind of say in how a society is run absolutely horrifying.
This one comes up in my circles all the time and drives me up a wall. They seem to not be able to comprehend that populism is a rhetorical tool that’s not necessarily tied to any specific ideology while Marxism is an economic analysis of class under capitalism. This leads them to reduce “anything that is good for the common person” to populism while blissfully and smugly missing the point of any actual analysis. I also think this is what leads some of them to spout the “horseshoe theory” nonsense; they think a fascist using populist rhetoric and a communist using populist rhetoric must be equivalent because they’re both populist, QED.
yup
Yeah, I think that goes hand in hand with stuff like “people are stupid.”
It makes me think of that Men in Black movie quote, which to me these days is western individualist drivel, but I recall at least one time online in the past of seeing somebody quote it like was meaningful and insightful. The one that goes like this:
A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it.
It implies that people are “stupid” as a collective, which is what the kind of libs you’re talking about seem to believe. The train of thought seems to go something like: “I live in a democracy.” -> “It sucks.” -> “Why does it suck? Because people are stupid.” -> “Therefore, democracy is bad.” -> And then you start getting into stuff like libertarian nonsense, rule by elite, etc.
This kind of stuff really exposes how liberals are just closeted fascists.
In my experience they do not have theory, but a “moral compass” which is mainly defined by series and movies they watched, some intelligent sounding sentences heard in podcasts and maybe a newspaper. It is pure basic stuff without any further thinking. Russia attacked first, so its clear what to think. History is not existing, everything happens within a vacuum.
Good example from a relative of mine: How did Hitler happen? The answer: Situation was bad after WWI. Hitler said, that its the fault of jews. A majority agreed and well that its. Was a pain to talk with him because you need to explain so much, literally teaching how to approach historic events.
Many things are just abstract. “Violence is bad”, " Many people died", freedom, justice, dignity. However the baseline in thinking is, that everything is somehow OK. Not perfect, but there are few bad things that need to be removed and then all will be good. If Putin, CCP, Iran, Kim Jong-Un etc. are killed, we will get the true end of history. The main villains have to be defeated.
And Trump is a mistake. I visited an event of a local university, where a notorious professor talked about the Bolshevik revolution. It was actually a smear campaign with stupid conclusions, like Lenin is the reasons for the existence of the russian mafia, because gulags. However he said, that Trump can’t do much, because the USA is a democracy. There many controlling instances, like independent courts, congress, House of Representativ etc.
And I mentioned series and movies as a source for the common liberal their “moral compass”. Never underestimate how heavy ideology is being spread through it. A reason, why marxists also analysed such cultural products. Today we have YouTube videos in addition. Easily manipulated by some algorithm and influenced by western governments, mainly the USA.
Just blame Donald Trump and the Republicans for everything and take no responsibility for America’s problems.
Also, never ask how the country got to the point where somebody like Trump is a viable political figure.
Hitler can commit the Nazi Holocaust because the war crimes in the Nazi Holocaust were the same crimes that European colonists and European immigrant commited against Indigenous people. The Indian Residential School system from 1850s that secetly continued after 1997 in the british diaspora are a serious of slave camps and death camps for psychopathic torture, child labor, savage indoctrination, cannibalism, and sacrifice of children to demons. The ongoing federal reserves where Indigenous people suffer from planned starvation, planned pollution, planned chemical attacks, and planned assault by white rapists as condition for reparation of fake school savagery are the first concentration camps in history.
In the same respect, the insult, mockery, provocation, and protectionism by Donald Trump against the global north are the same rude behaviors that the Western governments and politicians used against the global south.
a classic
